I used Uni Posca markers (the kind of markers used car salesmen use on the windshields) on the back of the glass, so I can write with them on the front and then wipe clean with rubbing alcohol.

There's more info on the Trash to Treasure forum as well as a post about a metal tray I did too.

Who else loves Trash to Treasure projects? Pictures of yours would be great!

Very nice Lydia!!! Love the tray also!
I have had an old window hanging out in the garage for 4 years now and just can't figure out what I want to do with it. Its got 4 panes though instead of one good one like yours. Hmmmmmm maybe, I can do Connie's Coffeehouse! LOL

That is really cool. I love the clear on clear, they do look like they are floating. Some one gave me a large glass door off of some kind of cabinet, I may have to try that. Frou

Magpie,I hadn't even thought about using those candleholders for anything other than making a pedestal. However, I have seen them painted up like snowmen or santas--or I could paint a couple acorns on them I guess. I only have red chargers, so these very inexpensive white ones seemed like something fun to "play" with while doing tablescapes. Jay, that's neat that you found a bowl in the same design--these say Gibson on the back. I like your idea of the candy stash! LOL I have used wreaths for centerpieces before like you suggested Lynn and Jane. Not so sure about using this one that way--think the little twiggy parts stick out too far, and the flowers don't go all the way around. Jane, I'm still seeing the picture there, wonder why you couldn't see it????? Jeanne, I don't know which of us is more blessed, me or my new friend! She is amazing and such a good rolemodel for me, she has MS and just fights it tooth and nail--is painting her bathroom and getting ready to hang wallpaper--maybe being around her will get me to stop procrastinating and get something done--if she can do all that, then I sure have no excuse! "Too bad you can't share the amazing transformation with the original owner." It came from a fancy smancy subdivision and I'm sure it was no big deal for the owners to run out and buy new chairs. You know that old saying, "Necessity is the mother of invention." Necessity sure has helped me learn to do a whole lot of things.

Charinky and Jodifay, don't know if you are into decorative painting or not, but the August 2006 issue of Painting magazine had lots of wine bottles, grapes, etc. in case you want to check it out for ideas.

I like all kinds of old windows. Here is an idea I did a few years ago that works well for the multi-pane windows! Cheap and easy!

Connie's Coffehouse will work great in your room with the 'coffee' curtains!

Ohhhhh I love that one too Lyd!
I remembered the one in your bedroom and really liked that one also! (you should post a pic of it)
I have an old 6 pane window in our bedroom,no glass, no paint and weathered, that just has greenery and fake peach roses twined around it.
I have been thinking of this old window in the garage since I painted the kitchen and just didn't know what to do with it.
I just did a search for "coffee shop signs" and got some ideas, now *IF* I can find things to do it with is another story....got to keep my eyes peeled.

That is adorable! I am not quite that crafty. I have been haunting the shops for old frames and such for my cross stitch but I have not framed any as of yet. I will be sure to post when I do.

Lydia, great job, you are so artistic!!!!

Have you ever thought of starting your own business with these? My SIL just paid over $150.00 for one very similar to Paris and it's not personalized. I think you could do very well at craft fairs, boutiques, etc... I'll be your first customer, I'd love one for my guest room.

Thanks for the nice words.

Matti - I'd love to do these and sell them, but the old windows are hard to find. I can do some of my own graphics, but these were all found on the computer and I enlarged them, then just traced and colored in. That copyright thing again. :-) If I ever find a whole bunch of smaller windows.. I might try selling them with my own designs.

Here are a few that I painted. I got the windows on eBay. I have a few more...but they aren't on the walls.
