My latest Trash to Treasure project (PIC)

I used Uni Posca markers (the kind of markers used car salesmen use on the windshields) on the back of the glass, so I can write with them on the front and then wipe clean with rubbing alcohol.

There's more info on the Trash to Treasure forum as well as a post about a metal tray I did too.

Who else loves Trash to Treasure projects? Pictures of yours would be great!

I have had an old window hanging out in the garage for 4 years now and just can't figure out what I want to do with it. Its got 4 panes though instead of one good one like yours. Hmmmmmm maybe, I can do Connie's Coffeehouse! LOL

Thanks so much for the kind words! It's nice to get nice comments from people outside of my family (who are obligated to say nice things). I'll try to post photos from our better camera later. On top of the hill is a red barn and silo. On the hill are some hay bales. I knew that I wanted to do a farm landscape bc that's the landscape in our area. The sky was the trickiest part, in terms of getitng it to look somewhat realistic; so, I watched a couple fo YouTube videos of "how to paint a sky." I actually re-painted the sky a couple of times to make it look right. Who knew that something that simple looking would be so challenging to paint? Before I tackled the huge painting I did a tiny (8x10) loose mock up, just to make sure that I wouldn't waste my time doing a huge version if the small one looked like hell. The small one looked ok; so, then I did the big one. It was definitely more challenging doing it on a huge scale bc when you blow things up, the lack of detail in the painting is more obvious. Anyway, the whole thing was a learning process bc as I painted and made mistakes, I figured out what didn't work and what worked better. I definitely had moments of frustration while painting it bc things just didn't look right, but I think I eventually fixed them to a point where it looked better. I found myself saying to myself several times during the process, "Why do I think that I can do this?!?" At the end of it though, I am really pleased with how it turned out. Anyway, if you are contemplating anything that seems kind of daunting, I have found that in general, if you break it up into little manageable parts, you can usually accomplish it to a passable degree. The worst that could happen is that the project fails, but in the grand scheme of life, that's not so bad. And on the flip side, you might suprise yourself!

Moni, everything you do looks good. Which reminds me, it must be time for you to post more pics of your gorgeous grandchildren. Susanjf, thanks for pointing out the pyramid corners. I love mission furniture, but hadn't made the connection. Now I know why I was drawn to the footstool. Jasdip, my furniture improvement efforts have been spotty at best--but I keep trying! Nicole, your mission (even if you don't choose to accept it) is to create a little rug for your master bath (and post pictures of course). Thanks, everyone!

I like all kinds of old windows. Here is an idea I did a few years ago that works well for the multi-pane windows! Cheap and easy!

Connie's Coffehouse will work great in your room with the 'coffee' curtains!

I remembered the one in your bedroom and really liked that one also! (you should post a pic of it)
I have an old 6 pane window in our bedroom,no glass, no paint and weathered, that just has greenery and fake peach roses twined around it.
I have been thinking of this old window in the garage since I painted the kitchen and just didn't know what to do with it.
I just did a search for "coffee shop signs" and got some ideas, now *IF* I can find things to do it with is another story....got to keep my eyes peeled.

That is adorable! I am not quite that crafty. I have been haunting the shops for old frames and such for my cross stitch but I have not framed any as of yet. I will be sure to post when I do.

Lydia, great job, you are so artistic!!!!

Have you ever thought of starting your own business with these? My SIL just paid over $150.00 for one very similar to Paris and it's not personalized. I think you could do very well at craft fairs, boutiques, etc... I'll be your first customer, I'd love one for my guest room.

Matti - I'd love to do these and sell them, but the old windows are hard to find. I can do some of my own graphics, but these were all found on the computer and I enlarged them, then just traced and colored in. That copyright thing again. :-) If I ever find a whole bunch of smaller windows.. I might try selling them with my own designs.
