Going to play golf for the first time ever at 57

My nephew is getting married two weeks from today. His brother has planned an unusual day tomorrow in lieu of the traditional bachelor party; he isn't a big drinker. It starts with a round of golf, a brief time at a bar and later on a trip to a comedy club. I'm skipping the latter.

There are a number of golfers in my family and inner circle. They've tried to get me out on the course more than once. I actually went one time and attempted to rent clubs but I'm left handed and was told that both sets (wow, they had 2!) of lefty clubs were already out on the course. (BTW, they had 22 sets of righties!) I'm borrowing one of my brother's clubs (also lefty, obviously). He's working and can't go.

I went to a sporting goods store to buy golf balls. I saw them priced at $30, $40, $50 a dozen. WHAT??? Considering they will all likely be drowned in a water hazard by the 5th hole I looked around and found a box of Slazinger's for $8.97 Good enough for me!!!

As far as preparation goes, last night I sat down and watched that classic episode of the 3 Stooges playing golf and destroying the course "How we gonna shoot golfs without guns?"

I guess I'm as prepared as I'm ever going to be. I'll let you know how it turns out.
