Neighborhood and home tours are some of the most popular events at the Palm Springs festival. The Vista Las Palmas home above was part of a 2015 Modernism Week Signature Home Tour. Also on view last February was the Donald Wexler-designed Steel House, below, recently renovated by Palm Springs architect Lance O’Donnell.
Events at the 2016 gathering include a Cuban-themed poolside dinner with model-actress Shari Belafonte, daughter of singer Harry Belafonte. Belafonte will cook a Caribbean-flavored meal for 50 people in a sprawling Old Las Palmas neighborhood home while sharing her family’s Cuban recipes and stories. Daily tours of the 2016 home on the Indian Canyons Golf Resort fairway will be offered. Interior decorator Nancy Price designed this room for the 2015 Christopher Kennedy Compound.
Eighty-five national and international dealers will offer 20th-century furniture, decorative and fine-art pieces at the Palm Springs Modernism Show & Sale at the Palm Springs Convention Center (February 12 to 15). A preview reception February 12 will benefit Modernism Week.
