Comments (18)I just wanted to say thanks everyone!! Very informative articles and so much knew stuff you learn each day comming here...I never understood this about bark and wood.. All I can say is thanks! I FINALLY found some! Fir bark... I remebered buying orchards from someone I met in my area over 5 years ago that was growing beautiful and citrus back then, and I remembered him saying someday he was going to sellevery good supply he could think of for orchards and tropicals, to help people be sucessful at these plants. It was a dream of his. I saved his number from then. I called him, and come to find out, he is a big supplier of YES!! "fir bark"...We were both happy to hear from each other besides. He has fine and or small and medium grade...He says it's real real good stuff. He specializes in this bark..NICE ha. Now I am excited. I get a FREE delivery of three bags within the next couple of days... I will take a pic, and you can see if it as nice as he says when I get to using it.... If it is, then I would be willing to tell you where I got it privately, since it can be VERY difficult to obtain this hard to find good stuff..:-) A secret he shared. I asked him how his plants were doing. He said better than ever before, since he waters his plants once a month with, ready? Seltzer water, sodium free.... He explained the benefits in detail, hard to remember...Hummm.. As anyone ever heard of this, watering container plants with seltzer water?...See MoreWhy can't I log in on iPad or iPhone
Comments (12)I think it is a GW problem. At least, GW is the only site where I am having it. I can now enter my password and post using my computer and my iPad, as I am now doing, but I still cannot log in via iPhone. It keeps telling me that I must log in after I enter my user name and password on the iPhone. My updates are current, if that matters. No, no error message appears, no passwords have changed. Comments (34)I have never had a subscription to a cooking magazine - the only subscription I did have was to Illuminatrice, an Italian lighting magazine, and that was at work. The only magazines that I buy at the newsstand are Italian design magazines, some of which are quite expensive (I used to buy men's Italian fashion magazines, when I was more fashionable), and I have saved every one of them. I also buy Architectural Digest, Interiors, Veranda, etc. when they publish photos of my furniture designs, and I keep these also. My old magazine collection takes up one shelf in my garage, and I do refer to the Italian magazines from time to time for inspiration. I do collect clutter, but books and magazines are not part of that. I have one shelf of cookbooks in the hall next to the kitchen. I once bought a magazine on Feng Shui, but I decided that the magazine was clutter and got rid of it. I spent last week-end trying to declutter my bedroom because I also bought a new mattress that will be delivered tomorrow, and I want my room to look nice. Yesterday I made a runner with the fabric left over from making new drapes for my bedroom (to be able to block out light) and put it on the wide dresser beside my bed. The dresser on the other side of my bed has a runner I made from fabric left over from when I made my bedspread. I find that decorating or trying to coordinate rooms helps me get rid of clutter. However, I did put a bunch of books on the wide dresser using bookends. I don't have room for another bookcase. If I need to get more books, I will get rid of old ones that I have. Lately I have been buying and reading books on Anthropology and early human evolution. I read them at night to help me get to sleep, and so it takes a while to get through them. I cannot stand to watch Hoarders, but I will watch Clean House if I need inspiration to declutter. Making my house and yards look as beautiful as possible is one of my top priorities, and this helps me let go of clutter. I haven't gotten rid of it altogether, however, and so I think it is an on-going process. I have a hard time getting rid of old clothes that no longer fit, and I am convinced that sometime in the near future, they will fit again. Anyway, that is my goal. They may be terribly out of style or inappropriate by that time, however. Getting rid of old clothes is my biggest problem. One of the things I came across yesterday while decluttering was a printout from a Cooking Forum thread from 2005 that I started asking what was in everyone's freezer. It included a post by Ann_T on pitahaya (I happened to have some in my freezer at the time) that she had copied and pasted, bad Google translation and all. The translation was hysterically funny. Comments (11)In all fairness, we were looking at the end of the winter season. It is possible that the better homes were already sold and we were looking at what was left on the market until the spring season hits. We absolutely did not like any of the ten resale houses at the prices where they were listed. The older homes on more land needed significant repairs and remodeling. Several houses were on undesireable lots and had views of the neighbor's houses while other houses in the neighborhood had a fantastic view of scenery. Some houses had not so desireable floor plans. Some of the newer homes were not quality. There was one house with an awesome view that listed in the $700 K's that supposedly had a lot of upgrades. It appeared to be poorly built. There were extension cords running all over the basement and the outdoor carriage lights appeared to be plugged into an outlet instead of being plugged in. We are a hard customer. We just built and moved into a brand new home last year. Our house is less expensive, has more upgrades, and is better built and has more land that the houses we saw. We are coming from an area with a lower cost of living. My dh was absolutely turned off and would most likely want to build again if we were to move. We also looked at brand new model homes in two different developments being built. One had a model home with a floorplan that both dh and I liked. We could customize it to fit our needs. The builder looked ok, but we would research further. The other development we saw was awful. The builder was ruining the spectacular views with his crappy houses. The houses appeared to be poorly built. What they were trying to pass off as upgrades would have downgrades to us. I think you could buy better fixtures at Wal-Mart. Anyway, that is our experience so far as potential buyers. We're not sure we will end up in Denver, but we are trying to learn as much as we can about the market in case we are transferred there....See Moredoug_gb
