I would keep it simple, leave one larger plant in the centre of the counter and remove the rest.

I would move the plants too. I think you need things made of materials that will add softness to the room. (Love your floor, btw.) Maybe one nice flowering plant in a wicker basket. I recently added a large lined wicker laundry basket to my laundry room counter. A place to toss dirty dish rags before washing. You can hang over the edge until they dry if needed.

How do you feel about adding some time of window valance? I would start higher than the actual window (maybe even up to the ceiling if you don't ever plan on installing crown) and only bring down past the top window trim far enough to hide it (so that no one knows where the window actually starts).

A few vintage pieces (aged wood, fabric coverered, wicker, woven leather - anything that will soften) and you're good to go!

I like the idea of apothecary jars with Laundry necessities in them. Maybe you could get some glass paint and stencil things like SOAP and CLOTHESPINS, etc on them.

I like the idea of a large plant in the middle. Maybe the one you have there in sat in a wicker type planter.

Where do you keep your laundry basket? I think a wicker one would look really nice. (I really like wicker and natrual type baskets right now, lol.)

Or you could create some type of vignette off to the one side. I like the idea of apothecary jars. Maybe on some type of tray. I have a large jar with clothes pins on top of my cabinets on the laundry room.

I think some type of fabric valance would look nice too.

I like Allison and Shee's ideas. I wouldn't put much on the counter - leaving it free for folding clothes and maybe other projects.

I also use a hamper like Allison - mine is for dish cloths and dish towels. My laundry room is right off my kitchen and I use alot of dish towels (I don't use paper towels as much) so I like having that separate hamper. Whatever you use it for I think some type woven hamper would look nice. Ditto the valance idea - add some color - I would use a print.

I have a counter in my laundry room that I had intended to use for folding clothes, but it's so much easier just to fold them on top of the washer & dryer.

With a laundry room that size I'm guessing you already have a place for laundry baskets. Mine are stacked under the counter.

Do the kitties like to get up there? You could put a pretty kitty mat or bed up there.

I like the idea of softening up the room. The litter box is in there too, but I took it out for the picture. :)

I keep my laundry basket on top of the washer so it can't be seen. I have a small wicker basket sitting in it for my dh dress shirts which I do myself.

The large plant in the picture is still in the room but it's larger now, and it has to stay because that's the only light it will grow under. It's right under an a/c and heat vent too and thrives!

Natal, kitty eats on top of the dryer (so dog won't get it) and she will sit on the counter but not get into stuff. Thankfully she's over the stage of breaking my things!

I have two cats and their litter box is in my main level laundry room. Tucked behind dresser, so it's not seen unless you're in the room.
My cats eat on the granite counter to avoid dogs. Why not get a pretty pair of ceramic (non Made in China) or stainless bowls for their water and food. Nothing wrong with moving it off the dryer onto the counter. You could put wicker placemat underneath if you'd like.

imo, apothecary jars are overused. Old thread linked below showing jars I purchased (the website no longer carries, but I've seen elsewhere). The large is HUGE, so be warned. lol I ended up not using any dog biscuits, but other things.
