I always hook my purse handles over the corner of the door before I shut the door...
It makes the door shut tighter and they wouldn't be able to get ahold of the handle when it is shut in the door.
I have to open the door to get it myself.

Yep it bothers the heck out of me too, I either put my purse over one knee so it doesn't touch the floor or hang it around my neck, and I hate those two positions too but it's the only other option, since my purses are very seldom small enough to sit on the paper hanger thingy lol. BTW the hook at the top is in the perfect place for a purse snatcher to get it and run. I don't think I'm fast enough to get my clothes back in place and then chase a purse thief from there ;o) Aye, aye, aye! Hey Lucy!

I don't want my purse hanging anywhere near my rear or that stool. I hang it on the hook and wrap the strap around it 2 or 3 times. I would grab it before they could ever get it untangled.

I am ROFLMBO at Pattico's reply. I'd break my neck if I hung my heavy purse around my neck. I use a quad cane (4 footed cane), so I hang my purse on my cane beside me.

Let me 'splain this you ya. The hooks (or lack there of) are put there by MEN. Nuff said.

I have never hung my purse around my neck in the restroom.

I always carry a purse with a shoulder strap. I keep it on at all times. To be really "hands-free" I often kriss-kross it over my chest. That way it can't slip or be pulled off me.

One of the many reasons why I wear a fanny pack when I'm shopping. I wear it in the front.

I also have a cross shoulder purse which I bought because when my arm was in a sling, I could not look at merchandise without putting my purse down and anything I put down I forget to pick up. I don't worry about someone trying to take my purse when I am carrying it. I am always aware of my surroundings and the people around me and walk alert. That is what we are told to do because they had rather attack someone who is half asleep and looking down.

another reason for me to continue using a back pack purse. ;)

Joann--I've hung a purse around my neck many times!!! Better that than the floor if there aren't any hooks.

My sister lived in Ft. Lauderdale years ago and had her purse stolen from the hook. She said it was so fast she didn't even have time to react.

Sitting here laughing.......... What I sight I am imagining. I wish they would invent a hook we can take with us that would stick then we could remove. Is there anything like that? And don't get me started on that CHEAP paper most places use. Just try to get it off the roll and you get inches by the chunk, All over the floor in pieces!

Moni back pack purses may be secure in a restroom, but not public places, they have it slit and wallet gone in nothing flat.

I remember reading (this was a joke) about a lady going into the ladies room, not wanting to put her purse on the floor, hanging it around her neck, not wanting to sit on the seat(her mother said you never know what you might pick up), trying to put paper on the seat and then trying to do the stance..Of course the door wouldn't lock right and someone tried to open it and of course that made the lady fall back against the seat...When she was "done", realized there was no paper and had to use a chewing gum wrapper she had in her purse....This joke went on and on and was the funniest thing I had ever read. But it was all very true, when you thought about it....I think the moral was, never go to the rest room alone, always take a friend...To stand and guard the door and then to hand you paper under the door.....

I looked and looked, trying to find a copy of this joke...If anyone has it, please post it.....

Where I live, and I "need" to go, everything is so close, I can drive home. Sometimes VERY VERY FAST! :o)

Husbands fish & game club had all new toilets put in both rest rooms a few years back--the long bowls. Now when we women use them our heads are right up against the door.

If you must put your purse on the hook, use the curved part of the hook. (not the straight arm that stick out)
I read once that it is much harder to get it off that part and then past the straight part.
If you have long, flexible straps, put over the hook and twist it once or twice...almost impossible to get that off quickly.
If nothing else it my give you a second to look up and grab at it?!?
