Wednesday's Dinner Plans

We were out on errands and stopped off for a bite. He had club sandwich and I had a grilled hamburger with the works.
What are your dinner plans?

Dinner at home---We are having beef tips in brown gravy, butter beans and green beans....yes I know that is two beans, but the asparagus went bad on me...so I needed something quick. So it is roasted green beans.

I fixed ham, potatoes, and green beans. Had to chop the ham on my plate into very small bites. Had two teeth filled mid afternoon....one on each side. Still a little trouble chewing but that didn't stop me from eating.

I'm not a sweets eater, either, but love warm ginger bread with lemon hard sauce or whipped cream. I think I see some in my near future! Angelaid, I do leave the skins on the sweet potatoes. Getting a real recipe from me is rare, lol. I so often invent toss this and that together. For the glaze, I mixed some peach jam, chili sauce, a bit of apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes. The peach was the primary ingredient. It would be good with apricot or even apple jelly or jam, too. Thank you for the cookbook recommendations, Alisande.

Patti, it's not really a wine tasting. We have a group of 7 couples that go out to dinner once a month. Each month a different couple hosts. They serve cocktails and appetizers and pick a restaurant for us to go to. Each couple gets separate checks so we're free to order as much or as little as we want because we pay our own way. We just call it Wine and Dine. Actually, we call our group Fun and Dine because there are many groups in our area and we've all been in groups that were more like Whine and Dine! This group got together about eleven years ago and we have a really nice time.

A friend dropped off some fresh halibut tonight. I'd spent the afternoon painting patio furniture, had planned on DH making hamburgers on the grill. Instead, he took a piece of the fish to a former neighbor for her dinner, I put the rest in a foil lined baking dish, open, dotted it with butter, S&P, sprinkle of dried dill and put it into a hot oven. Green beans, toast, yogurt with strawberries.

Walnutcreek (so good to see you again!) and Shirley, sometimes microwaved dinners are just the thing! OF, I enjoy raking leaves and shovelling snow. Hubby had ice cream for dessert, but that doesn't interest me at this time of year. I'm glad to see you eating a sandwich of sorts, instead of your usual Coke, Deeby :-) I'm planning on having a stir-fry this week Rhizo. Thanks for the reminder. Angela, your post made me laugh! We love that! How unfortunate that both sides of your mouth were frozen!

Laura, I bought some asparagus at the farmers market one day last summer. 3 for $5. I grabbed 3. Only when I got home and was ready to cook them, I saw that the tips on a number of them were pretty far gone. Slimy.

I made such a yummy marinade for salmon that we're putting on the grill shortly. Rice flavored with the same ingredients is about ready and the coleslaw is chilling. I might toss a couple pieces of pineapple on the grill, too.

Yes, I boil the dinner. Have enough left over for another time.

I still prefer the inconvenience of having both sides done at once, to having to go back again.

made my own bday dinner (didn't want to go out) and had messages from all the kids...

this time I used a cooking bag for my little pork loin roast...oh my it was good...enough to shred for bbq later...and so easy to clean up!

Baked pork steaks in BBQ sauce, mac n cheese...ceasar salad and wilted spinach.

I had taken out some sirloin pork chops to thaw. At least that's what the package said. After I had pried them apart I saw they were not pork chops but country style boneless ribs. I put them on the Forman grill and had boiled carrots with mine and I made DH mashed potatoes. Enough left over for another meal for him.

We were out shopping yesterday, doing the Ikea/Costco run and stopped for a dinner of meatballs, mashed potatoes, lingonberry jam and salad at Ikea. They do a very nice job with their restaurant.
