Buying and Selling Homes

I need some decorating input...

I don't know if this is legal, but since I post here usually and I know all of you are so great at decorating/visualizing, I would love your advice although it doesn't directly relate to buying or selling. We just bought a house in a different state (we're relocating) and are moving in four weeks. I took pictures of the somewhat unique and interesting master bathroom, and posted on the Bathrooms forum asking for input on what I can do with it. If any of you would have the time to check it out and give me your input, I'd love it. Thank you as always!!! The link to my post in the Bathrooms forum is below.

They don't typically start growing rapidly till overnights hit over 60*F and daytime over 80*F. Where did you get st augustine sprigs? In your town? If so, how did it look round year?

Hi! They look like Hoya Carnosa Krimson Queen(rounded leaves) and Krimson Princess(ovate leaves). The more knowledgeable Hoya folks will come along to give more details, or correct the IDs! I have both in my collection and they are probably among the easier to grow Hoyas. Good Luck and ....(go buy those plants!) GH

Oh Boy - I need some input (Putting in Porch)

You can see the step up from the concrete pad to the house back door. I am thinking about laying treated 4x4's on the concrete pad and laying the decking on that from house to old deck. Then re-decking the old deck with same decking. There would still be a small step down to new deck and a small step up to old deck. My other thought, other than just removing old deck, would be to lower the old deck and rebuild it and new deck over concrete slab all at same height. I have also played wth the idea of just tiling over the concrete slab; but I really like the idea of decking in that, and the old area. On the other hand, the whole existing thing is a nonfunctional UGLY mess. I may be better off just ripping it all out and starting over. One other concern is the fact it is really wet in Columbus MS, and I wonder about having a deck that is only 8" or so off the ground. Heck, I may be better off just ripping it all out as stated and pouring a new slab in the size I want. Comments on any of this greatly appreciated.

There's a heckuvalot going on in that bathroom! Too much! The wallpaper totally clashes and the window treatment has to go. The way it is right now, the tiles don't match, but you can probably save those by painting the room a warm taupe. You also need to tie in the granite countertop somehow.

I don't like the shade of the cabinets. They almost look pink to me, but it could be because of the pink wallpaper.

I love the setup of the shower and the glass cubes. I think once you get rid of the wallpaper and the window covering, you will figure out what to do from there.

Thanks so much for your comments sparksals. I agree and the wallpaper and window treatment are the first things that will go. I was also thinking of a warm taupe (or maybe a shade lighter) to tie it all together. I don't like the pink in the tiles although I can maybe live with the blue, but otherwise I think it is cool and I want to make it striking.

The cabinets are actually a very light wood, no pink at all, I think that's my pictures if a pink tinge is coming out. I'd be in real trouble if the cabinets had a pink tinge...

I agree to do the walls and window treatment first. One suggestion I have is that I have seen "tile paint" on some HGTV show, where they painted over colored tiles. This might be an option for those pink tiles.
