3 tsps equals 1 Tablespoons, I know that! So that's 1 1/2 tsp. Half of a half of a tablespoon would beeeeeeeee 1/2 tsp plus 1/4 tsp So 2 1/4 tsp????? Right?

Again, thanks a lot to everyone for sharing your thoughts. Below layout is what we settled on. I know it's by no means the best design, but it will be functional, and it required compromises from all parties involved (yes, that includes the cats too). The wall cabs are bumped out 2 inches. With the cover panel covering the doors and slight over hang, the cats will have a 15" deep platform. The counter top in front of the wall cabs will be about 11" deep, which is what my DH wanted ("to set things down on"). Good night and happy 4th everyone!

Update: another option is to move the 2 lower cans in mudroom up a bit so they are symmetrical around flush mount with the other 2 cans ...

The whole idea is to give the illusion that your counters were carved in one giant piece out of one giant slab, therefore, what your fabricator proposed initially is ideal. As for this: “Once he was on site, the fabricator seemed to agree with me and suggested the European curved seam at that point,” I think he was simply trying to appease you. ;) Beautiful kitchen, btw!
