Quick help needed please! Fissure found in island slab

Hey, they were meant to be fabricating our island today but they just called me and have found a fairly large fissure in our island slab.

We're meant to be building up with a laminated edge and I don't want this to be a problem down the line. Granite guy says that it will be strong as they will put metal supports on and that you won't be able to see it (???) as it looks like a vein. He doesn't want to do the work on the laminated edge if we're going to reject it.

This is on a slab of super white quartzite btw. He tried to tell me that their new lot is virtually identical, but I saw it on Saturday and didn't like it at all so we don't want that.

Is this some sort of force saying stop and just use thick Carerra marble like you wanted to in the beginning? Also I finally got a small sample of our slab on Saturday and it etches with lemon. Help?

Thoughts?
