Holy crap. The owners/employees of the tanning salon should not let the MOTHER do any more tanning. She looks like absolutely hell. Her skin is damaged way beyond repair, and she's only 44!

oh wow that tanning booth is her crack pipe!! That woman has one big bad addiction to tanning. Even if the child is in the same room as the tanning bed she is exposed to the lights and they are very damaging to the eyes which is why you are supposed to wear eye protection.
Why on Earth would she want to look like that!! Her nose is well done!any more and it will be crispy.

The media really can lead people around by the nose, can't they? Sounds pretty exaggerated to me. Nothing adds up using anything near common sense. That kid wasn't "cooked" as some want to imply. Good grief. Because the mother looks like Walmart leather goods, people assume the kid was burned beyond recognition? That kid would burn after a couple minutes in the sun. And she wasn't in any endangerment from what they showed of her. If she was in a tanning bed for the time crispy momma goes, she'd be char-broiled. Nothing adds up using anywhere near common sense. Where's the interview with a doctor who treated the "severe" burns? Boy, have I got a bridge or two to sell some people...

Nope, I don't buy this hysteria, especially with this little evidence. If the old lady wants to cremate herself that's her business, not unlike the nutcases with botox or plastic surgery.

If facts can show that she creamated the kid, there's no penalty severe enough, but so far there hasn't even been a shred of credible evidence presented to warrant even discussing this hyperbole. I'm really tired of media blowing things out of proportion to get ratings and people blindly accepting it because it was in an email, or on the internet or saw it on TV. And the stupid commentary by those dumb anchors prove they're only there because of their looks - certainly not from their "intelligence", which apparently was an optional extra which they chose to forgo.

This one is laughable.

If you read the whole story, she (mom) claims the child was sunburned, because after a couple of days, they can find no evidence of any burning on the child. Might be another newstory blown up! I too wish the media would just report the facts, and not the reporters trying to report the bigest, and most lies, just to get their name by the headlines. The mom does look bad, but that is her problem.

The story doesn't make sense to me.

The article did state that the girl had a sunburn from playing outside (gasp!) and that the Mom regularly took her TO the tanning salon, but NOT in the tanning booth. The Mom, her own crispy self, tanned - but the girl waited in the reception area.

A teacher overheard the Mom saying she was taking the girl to the tanning salon and took that to mean she was taking the girl to TAN at the salon.

I don't know about the kid, but if the mother thinks she looks good...YIKES!! She is downright scary looking. And this is from a long time sun bather..40 or more years. I never went to a tanning bed, but did lay out in the sun. No skin cancer YET but the skin on my legs which used to get the tannest, is very thin.

I do feel bad for both the mother and the children. False accusations and investigations are so traumatizing to children and families. The woman sounds perfectly sane and appears to be a loving mother except for her addition to tanning.
I do hope that she somehow does get help for her tanning addiction. She looks 80 and her own health is certainly at risk.

'Handbags that look better' - my husband has caulk work boots that have been rebuilt twice that look better than her skin. She's a walking ad for basal cell carcinoma.

Why doesn't someone close to this woman tell her she looks like a cartoon character and does not have the healthy glow she must imagine she's gaining? Does she get a physical ever? A little too much color when I'm undressed and tan lines are showing and my doctor nails me to the wall :)

I've been to tanning salons although not in many years - It seems to me just the light of the bulbs even when the top is down would be hard on a small childs eyes, I wouldn't take one into the room that held my tanning bed and have her wait while I tanned.
