The house has curb appeal, it just needs a little oomph. I like the color scheme you chose, but really think you need as deep a yellow/gold as you can stand. The house is surrounded by so much concrete it needs a paint color that offers a strong contrast.

I hadn't noticed that about the concrete, that is a good point. I have 3 golds on there now, waiting to put another coat and let them dry.

Would you do 2 tone on the siding vs. the stucco? The siding is right smack growing out of the cement.

Natal nailed it. Your house looks to have the Arts & Crafts thing going, to my eye. Any A&C color scheme would work. I think you could do 2 tones on the siding & stucco, but I'd keep it subtle -- a slight shift.

Actually, the front of your house is very charming! The side needs something. Maybe painting to better differentiate it from the driveway will help a lot.

Your house is quite nice. I'd not do 2 colors but replicate the colors from your inspiration photo. Definitely paint your door red and add rectangular planters on the front and side porch partitions filled with red geraniums and variegated trailing ivy to bring the door color forward. Maybe add 2 large round planters in front in the gravel on either side of the walkway, again filled with red flowers. It will look great!

Where did you find your inspiration photo? Anyway to find out what color that house is?

I've found that exterior house paints are next to crazy to pick based on a tiny paint sample. The outside lighting makes them change color!

Restrained Gold is probably the darkest gold of your choices, but it's not as striking a color in my opinion as your inspiration photo.

Have you checked out Golden Fleece? It's a bolder Gold. BM Wilmington Tan is a darker, warmer gold.

Golden Fleece was my first choice! Painted that up there with wild abandon thinking I would love it and it was too colorful. Mannered Gold is what I am going with, it is the next darker from restrained gold. Golden Fleece and Restrained Gold are so so so close, the restrained is just that more 'restrained.' Snarf. My husband thinks they all look the same.;)

Gosh, I don't think you need us at all. I love your inspiration picture and I love Mannered Gold. The only thing I wasn't sure about is the red door, but the others seem to think it will work.

But I do need help, I do! He will be here in less than 24 hours!!! I am thinking Mannered gold for the body of the house, then Restrained for the arch and other bits by the front entry. So do I outline the window and door in restrained gold or do I do a cream trim as it already stands? Then what to do about the lip of the roof? Maybe restrained there as well?

I would only do two colors. With your green windows, you'll have three colors which is enough.

I'd do the body of the house in the Mannered Gold and all the trim - basically everything that is white now, I'd do in the Navaho White which is at the top of the Mannered Gold strip. It will look creamy white but not a stark white and I think you need that lightness with the gold to make the gold standout and look crisp.

I like the yellow in the picture and I'd try to find a good fit if you can. My personal taste doesn't like dark yellows or gold on houses. My neighbor has a two story A&C house with pale yellow siding and it's to die for.

I'd do the trim in white, along with the porch roof.

I LOVE THE COLOR! Thank you guys so much for the help.

It's not done yet, the insets and arches in the front will be SW Blonde, but the body and trim is almost done, Mannered Gold and Navajo White. Here you can see where I put a swatch of Navajo White and Restrained Gold in the insets to see if they would work, one is too light, and the other too dark I think.

Now I need front door/porch help. Our porch looks like crap now that the house is all spiffy. So we are going to paint it. I would love to strip it and refinish it, but that ain't gonna happen. So what color for the porch, the door and the sidelights?

But I wanted to say that your new paint looks very nice.
You know to change the glass in your sidelights to frosted plain glass rather than yellow would not be too expensive.

Your home is adorable! Since you like color, maybe paint the interior of the porch a blue or blue-green. Or paint it the lighter gold to brighten it up. Here are some visuals for ideas. Don't know where you are, but your home feels like a Mediterranean Arizona cottage to me, which is what I was playing off of. Spurred by AuntJen's colorful new porch, as well : )

I'd been playing with the steps. Looks like I left them painted in a soft aged terra cotta similar to the pavers.

Forgot, I'd also tried a slate gray on the porch wall slab tops.

Oooh, the blue porch looks so inviting!

But we are in northern CA and the house is Arts and Crafts, I want to stay pretty close to that, so I think blue is out for the porch.

I'm thinking dark green or blah grey or red similar to the brick for the floor.

Changing out the glass is a great idea, I HATE THE BRADY BUNCH GLASS. My dream was to replace the whole shebang at once, door and sidelights... but maybe I could get by with just switching out the glass?

ok, some A&C goes in : ) Swapped out the Talavera style tile plaque with A&C. The white window and roofing/gutters kind of throws things off. I think I read above you were thinking of the lighter gold for the arch? Included that option.

I really like the golden-olive color trim with your house color.

You're thinking of going dark with the porch interior? Would think the porch would be quite dark with that direction.
