Emperia glass and stone blend as waterline tile?

Has anyone used this as their waterline tile? If not, any thoughts would be appreciated. We are planning on Gold Traverine deck, beige travertine coping and Prism Blue Pebble Sheen.

The tiles are 1 7/8" by 7/8" They are a blend of stone and glass. I was thinking of lining our steps with a thin glass tile to match the color in the waterline tiles.

I actually saw that tile while looking for 1x2 glass tile for our build.

I can't see why it wouldn't work. It's very beautiful from the pics and a great idea to mix design elements like that.

A bit pricey, but would look great. Have you seen it in person?

I ordered samples of all four colors and will hopefully get it in the mail this week. I'm really excited because I think it would look great.

Wow! I was quoted! I'm so honored. It's true. Your stone is the beautiful frame, your water is the picture, and your tile is the mat. It shouldn't take away from the other two, unless it is a feature. At first I thought, definitely the gray, but as I looked at it, it could also be the color of one of the lighter gray rocks in your stone (I see two of the stones in the second set of pictures under the pvc pipe). That might be more of a gradual transition between the rock and the gray finish and blue water. I LOVE your stone. Our tile would probably be too dark for you, but we used Daltile Continental Slate in Asian Black. Lots of grays and brown it it too. http://www.daltileproducts.com/series.cfm?series=38#608 The tile is great. The only trouble that we had in the beginning (and now again, see below) is that the grout put out calcium. Our pool builder didn't know how to get rid of it, and poured chems. right on the grout and it ate it up. After a while, I tried spraying vinegar on it and scrubbing a little and it came right off. This was on our 360 degree spa that has water running on it everyday. The waterline has had no problems since. We had them come back to regrout the spa, and we do have a couple of areas that show calcium again. I guess it's time to get out the vinegar again. It should stop soon. Now others might want to chime in on this one, but you might want to seal the grout. We didn't, and I don't know if that would have helped. Here's some pictures of our spa and the tile. We picked our tile to match the plaster color and then picked coping stone to match the tile. I don't think there is a right or wrong way to do it but we wanted a more natural look so we wanted it to blend together. However there of plenty of pools on here that look great that went with blue colors for the tile to match the water color, regardless of what stone they were using. West facing back yard in Texas makes me think "hot". I would put some thought into water temperature management since you are using black plaster and plenty of umbrella sleeves in the deck or other means for shade.

Pebble Tec now makes a waterline tile that "matches" their PT gravels. Ask the PB to show you samples. It looks very understated and nice. I don't like tile that screams "look at me". I like ones that blend in. But it's personal preference. I checked out about 4 pool books from my local library just to look at tile! LOL. Going to a sample show room will really help too since things in reality usually look very different then on paper. Katherine

Anyone have a 'honey/ caramel onyx glass stone blend' backsplash?

We have a rough textured honey onyx in our master bath BS, which I love, but not sure I would want it in a kitchen because I think it would be very difficult to clean splatters off the rough, uneven texture. Not sure if the one from HD is rough or not, but if you like the look, try to get something that is smooth and more even.

I got the samples in the mail today and all 4 color choices are beautiful. They are expensive but they look amazing and I think it would be money well spent.

which color are you leaning towards? Do they look much like the online pictures in person? I would imagine the iridescence is amazing and hard to capture via photo.

We saw a lot of iridescent glass in pools, and while my wife and I both loved the *idea* of it, in person, everything we saw was just too pink.

We're still in the process of tying to find some nice non-iridescent glass.

I really like this tile and would consider it if we were going for a different look.

We are leaning toward the Terra Cotta. They look very close in color to the pictures online. The laurel and celestial (obviously because it's blue) :-) don't have any pink but the other two may have hints of pink in them. All of them really blend well with our gold and beige travertine. If you are interested you should order samples. I am still in awe of what beautiful tile it is.

Another nice tile manufacturer is Bisazza or Bissazza. I think its one "s" . Made in Italy, warehoused in Fla. They have gorgeous glass mosaics, starts at about that tile price point, can go over $200 a sheet for tiles imbedded with gold or silver. I used to sell it at a store called The Great Indoors, its a Sears company, there are about 16 stores throughout the US and they do frequent sales, you may save some money going that route. Only drawback is if its not in stock in Fla, the delivery time from Italy is 4 to 6 weeks. Hope ;this helps Barb
