Choosing Front Door need Help..Are these passe.

I am renovating my house and have to choose my front doors.

I am doing 2 doors side by side instead of sidelights.

I am using fiberglass doors as I am near the ocean.

I am doing a cottage/beach style house.But I want it to look elegant.

I want to use doors with glass so I get the light,and can see out when I need to but I am on a busy street and Don't want everyone looking in. I want a classic timeless look. I am not a big fan of the textured glass.

Is it Passe to have Sheers on my front doors. I am looking at these doors..with the 10 grilles. Not sure if I should do :

Fixed Grille

Grille Between Glass

Removable (Wood) sure if I should do?

Let me know if the curtains are out of fashion?

Let me know what kind of Grilles to get.

The door that shows up as the choice on your link is very nice...twelve lights and one panel below. But what you choose might be best decided by what your windows look like. Do you have divided lights on your windows, or are they plain? Sash or casement? Or do you have double-hung sash windows with a different top and bottom? (Some are six-over-one, for instance...)
For example, if you windows are six-over-six, with the top and bottom sashes more square, you might like the door style with nine lights instead of twelve, so the glass starts higher in the door. If you windows have single-pane sashes without a grille, you might like to keep the door glass plain as well.
And no, sheers are not out of fashion. There are nice modern patterns for sheer material, or you can keep them plain...and you can use sheer cotton voile instead of the silkier polyesters, for a more cottagey feeling. Gathering them top and bottom adds to the privacy, but even a flat panel in a simple tone-on-tone design stretched between slender rods cuts the view inside pretty well.

If you are planning to mount curtains on the door, check with ThermaTru first to see if you can mount the hardware on the door. It may not be possible to do so. We have a ThermaTru fiberglass door with 9 sidelights, and were told by their consumer service that the construction of the door prevents you from screwing anything into the door. The best we could do would be to mount curtains with a tension rod.

That is interesting that you suggested red because that was what I was originally thinking. Originally I was going to match my front doors to the outbuilding color of Glidden California Red. Here is an example on two of our sheds: However, I was beginning to think it might be too much color for the front door. As for aqua, I am pretty sure my husband would say no. ;-) Thanks for the help.

Not knowing the exact shade of your peach/tan, I am showing you how a brown trim and several door & shutters colors might look. Notice that a color will look slightly different when paired with other colors. I recommend you use an online virtual paint program that most paint manufacturers have to compare and narrow your preferences.

get one of those vinyl wrap posts. that metal scroll is blah and too thin. look how good this looks! get some cedar shutters to match and it would really stand out what would also look nice with your blue door, is a natural wood post (redwood or cedar). very simple to do. they have the posts already to go, cut to fit, set it into a metal holder on the cement, and coat it w/a uv clear coat so it won't change colors. some like this (size and color) would be perfect. you don't need the curved parts, just the single post and the cap at the top/bottom. plant more yellow flowers, maybe a few blue pots. copper would really pop the blue the door came out beautiful you know you can paint your light, yes? I have one almost identical. I taped off the glass portion and used Rustoleum spray paint. looks brand new. do yours in the copper color. and your mail box, and new address numbers

What a pretty home! I think a white would look nice especially since its used in the trim, would work nice with the door handle they currently have too. If youre wanting to restain the wood I would try a stain that neutralizes the yellow.

My windows have 4 lites up top and plain glass on the bottom.

I just talked to the door man and he said I can only get 6 light in the size I need.

I asked about drilling in hardware for a curtain he said that I could do that with the fiberglass door. Hopefully he is right.

If I can get a photo I will post my house
