Don't go to the Home Depot to buy an exterior red for you door. Just don't do it. A real paint store that sells Ben Moore or Pratt & Lambert are much better bets. Sherwin Williams would be okay too. But first you have to determine if you can paint your white door red. You have two issues: One, it's white, probably came from the manufacturer white. Not all white doors can be painted darker colors. You have to check your warranty and documents for the door. Usually the better quality and grade the door, the more options you have for color. The info for your door will specify a LRV, Light Reflectance Value. Paint an inexpensive white door a mid-tone to dark color and you will have issues because the door was never meant to deal with the energy accume. Darker colors absorb more wavelengths of light, wavelengths are energy, energy turns into heat. Or, more simply put a dark color will cook your door. If it's made to handle the heat, you're fine. Second issue is the storm door. It acts like a magnifying glass on a bug. Your door is the bug. Definitely consider the integrity of the door's structure as well as how intense/not intense the exposure to the sun is on the front of your house. North is the mildest, easiest on a home's elements. South and west can be wicked intense.

This is a recommended color from SW for Mindful Gray…homburg gray. I would do this on the shutters and the garage doors and leave the wood door as is. The two middle windows shouldn’t have shutters as the won’t fit appropriately, but you are not painting the siding and the darker outlines of the shutters will show if you don’t replace what was there. Personally, would like the house with out shutters and would probably paint the siding and garage doors and have no shutters at all.

get one of those vinyl wrap posts. that metal scroll is blah and too thin. look how good this looks! get some cedar shutters to match and it would really stand out what would also look nice with your blue door, is a natural wood post (redwood or cedar). very simple to do. they have the posts already to go, cut to fit, set it into a metal holder on the cement, and coat it w/a uv clear coat so it won't change colors. some like this (size and color) would be perfect. you don't need the curved parts, just the single post and the cap at the top/bottom. plant more yellow flowers, maybe a few blue pots. copper would really pop the blue the door came out beautiful you know you can paint your light, yes? I have one almost identical. I taped off the glass portion and used Rustoleum spray paint. looks brand new. do yours in the copper color. and your mail box, and new address numbers
