Hotel shower curtains - act as liners too
Comments (22)Dreaming, thanks. I didn't explain it very well, but you did. :) A friend of mine has a curved rod, but it's installed so that the widest part of the arc is parallel with the tub and the rod ends are inset more into the alcove, essentially negating the benefit of the curve. I studied some photos of curved rods on Houzz and finally understood: The ends are where a straight rod would be mounted and the curve gives you a space bonus. Plus the curtain slides off to the side very nicely. Now I just have to come to grips with drilling holes in my new tile. I don't know why that gives me such heartburn. :) It's been over 15 years since I've had a shower curtain. I used to be enamored with the clear plastic ones. When we bought this house and saw there were clear glass doors, I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. Never thought I'd be excited about another shower curtain again. I bought two at BB&B and even the $13 one looks great....See MoreShower curtain liners
Comments (14)I only buy mine at the dollar stores, or other discount stores if they're cheaper (have been known to get them for as little as 85 cents.). I like to put up a fresh one every month or two, so the thin ones are just fine with me. As to mold? I find that one thing that helps is cutting the shower curtain about 6" shorter than it comes. They're just too long (for my rod, at any rate, and hang right down to the floor of the tub if I hang them from the package. Cutting it off so it's about halfway up the side of the tub seems to help a lot with that water sitting between the tub and curtain problem, AND it gets rid of that little ridge at the bottom of the curtain where water and mold sometimes accumulate....See MoreCurved Shower Rod and Billowing Curtain
Comments (9)I put a tension-curved rod up because I wasn't sure if I'd want a curtain or glass sliding doors on my tub after a redo. I bought this rod as a trial balloon to help me decide if I really wanted to go with a curved rod and drill into my new tile. I've never replaced it. It's never so much as budged, and my tile is intact if I ever decide to change my mind. I also mounted it high for an extra-long curtain liner. I've never been attacked by the curtain. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NBQ9BDC/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1...See MoreAnyone use a regular curtain rod to hang a shower curtain?
Comments (5)Actually had two shower curtains on my alcove shower. One was a fixed shower curtain that was hung on an exterior rod from wall to wall. It had a valance and two fixed panels, one on either side. Then, I had another shower curtain. This was a plain white cloth curtain that was on the rod. It was on rings that also included a plastic curtain for water protection. So....two rods. An exterior one. That was covering my end walls/tiles. Then, a regular bath rod that held both a fabric outer curtain and a plastic one. We no longer have this system or I would post a photo. But, yes...it can be done!...See Moremlraff53
