The half wall- is that the same color as the big wall? It is a beautiful color. I am having similar issues with the right beige/taupe and I am looking at a SW strip with malted milk on it which is looking pretty promising to me. It is a brown with some slight gray and pink in it ( to my eyes. Take a look at that one and see if that has any promise, since you seem to be saying that the golder ones clash with the carpet.

You said the Restrained Gold and Tobacco Road have too many green undertones, but that (green) would be the easiest direction to go, IMO.

It would tie the two areas together and the carpet wouldn't be a problem. Gold paint with beige flooring can be tricky.

Why don't you look at a green that is similar to the stems on your poppy art piece?

Take a look at SW Whole Wheat. It is very similar to Tobacco Road but not as yellow. I was really afraid that it was going to go green in my rooms but once on the walls I saw no green at all.

...and yes parma the carpet is killing me - but can't replace it (it's only 2 years old). As for the green you mentioned in the Poppy picture, the darker green on the stems is actually on the opposite wall - this picture shows a little of it.

...and tfm, I will also check out SW Whole Wheat (someone else mentioned that color to me as well).

Hopefully there is a paint color that will tie into my spectrum of color.

Shame on me for forgetting to mention how nice your rooms are!

If you like your fireplace accent wall, can't you just cut that color 50% or do another one on the paint strip?

Thanks again for the nice comments. Parma, I love the color of the accent wall by the fireplace (I actually have it on several walls as an accent throughout my home. I'm not sure about green as a primary color in my FR - I'm trying also to compliment the color in my foyer (SW Tavern Tan),which is wide open to the family room and kitchen. It looks really yellow on screen, but is actually a very muted creamy gold.

Tavern Tan is very similar to SW Golden Gate (on my one wall in FR in first picture). I'd like to keep a flow going - but the green will work with my taupey carpet and rusty kitchen....hmmmmmm

I just painted my DR BM Guesthouse. I have greens and Golds in my home with some red accents. Your carpet looks similar to mine. I do not have window treatments up yet but am planning a brownish/gold and muted green stripe.

Sheliaaus - No I haven't picked a color yet. One of my neighbors came by the other day (who happens to be an interior designer) and agreed that my carpet was throwing off my whole color scheme. She suggested that a simple, light chocolate would compliment my carpet, my kitchen colors and flow with the rest of the colors in my home. She said SW Meadowlark at 50% would probably be a good choice. It's a good, chocolate brown with very little undertones. I haven't been able to go to the paint store this week yet but plan to tomorrow - I'll keep you posted - I HAVE to get this done!
