I vote for BM - Wilmington Tan

None of these excite me, and my favorite color is paper bag brown. What colors do you look best in?

I actually kind of liked the potato peel color on the margins.

Is the mantle/fireplace surround staying that color? I can't tell if it is painted, stone, etc. That might affect your decision since it is in the same color family.

The mantle is cast stone and would be staying that color. It's a little creamier in real life than it shows on my monitor.

I was trying to pick some colors from the rug that would have some contrast with the fireplace. There is also some blue in the rug and sagey green in the chair stripe. Do you think that would be a better direction to go in?

Wilmington Tan looks great with red--are you sure you have the swatches labeled correctly? I have used this color with red in the past, but it didn't look anything like the 2nd swatch. It's more like the 4th swatch. Could just be my monitor, though:)

I would vote for something in between the color already on the wall (dark) and the Wilmington Tan (light). I think a grayish-beige in between those two would be perfect. To me, the tans just don't do as much w/ the chair though I can see why you're looking at them due to the rug.

My friend just had her very large, 2-story living room and entry painted in CORK. It is a very warm, lovely gold color, but not at all garish or bright. It is rich, though... so if that is what you are going for, I'd definitely recommend the "cork".

Thanks for the responses - several seem to like the Wilmington Tan. Interestingly, the paint consultant picked out the Wilmington Tan color but DH dislikes it and I'm lukewarm on it. The sample I painted has a decided khaki-green cast in the room but maybe it's one of those colors you need to paint the whole room to get the true effect. Uggh, don't know if I should disregard DH's opinion and give the W. Tan a go today or just tell them to hold off until we find something we like better.

Your rug is gorgeous! Would you mind sharing the name? I love all the colors, but I think the Palomino, Ale and cork are my favs!I'm trying to match it to the camel color on the diamond in the middle. May be different IRL though.

Me too! What a lovely room (what I can see of it anyway)!

The rug is from Safavieh's Farahan Sarouk collection. It has a very soft yet thick pile. The colors do change dramatically depending on which direction you lay it. This is the only room in our new house the rug will fit in so I definitely have to make it work.

Thanks for posting the rug info. Would BM Golden Retriever work. It might be close to one of the colors listed. Hard to tell.

Wilmington Tan has always been one of my favorite colors, but the way your sample is showing up on my monitor makes it look more grayish. Here's a picture of it in Johnatemp's house.

I like the first, the third and the last!! Love that chair and rug!! I see that a lot of folks like the Wilmington Tan but it looks too similar in color to the fireplace surround to my eye.

and I agree with rubybaby, there is not a nice contrast with the fireplace if you use the tan color.

My very favorite is the first one. Is the one that picks one of the nice colors in your beautiful carpet, is rich enough for the style/color of furniture that you have, nice contrast with the fireplace and...is so beautiful with your hardwood flooring.
By the way, is your base installed? or it is just narrow..?
May I suggest a wider (5") base?

Well before I saw Anyone's choice .. I chose the Wilmington Tan. That color *hit* me right away as being a good feel for the room

I like the first one too! Maybe it's just the differences in all of our monitors. I also think the sample of Wilmington Tan doesn't look like the houses I've seen with it. Lighting plays tricks too. Can't wait to see it done!

A vote for Devine Paints "Ale" -- although my DH would probably vote for a color closer to "Guiness" or "Smithwick Ale" LOL!
