If you like Candice Olson, then you probably like her beige, camel, blue/gray, dark wood look :) She uses that a lot and it is a pretty color combination. If you like her designs, what about cream colored trim and fireplace, walls a nice medium blue/gray and the sectional in a camel color. If you have coffee table, end tables and maybe built-ins? in a darker wood tone. Or the built-ins could be painted cream to match the fireplace. I like your rug, but with the windows, what about long drapes that make the windows look bigger? (Another Candice trick) You could use sheers behind the drapes to let the light in, but disguise the windows. If this doesn't appeal to you, I would do roman blinds. Finally, I would find a great pattern fabric for your curtains/roman blinds and pillows on the sectional. Good luck with your room, you have a great start!

Wow Lavender lass you gave awesome suggestions, thank you. I love drapery because for me material adds warmth. But would long drapes look OK behind a sectional that will be very close to the window wall? To keep it casual could I do pannels with roman shades and hang them almost to the cealing to make the windows look longer?

I love Candice Olson rooms too. I seem to remember she had some great fabrics that she used in a living room and a dining room that had the blue/grey, camel, beige color combination. There might be pictures on the HGTV website.

Lavender lass-No I am too afraid to continue on to the site. When I click on it there is a warning about StopBadware.org. I haven't changed my settings and this has never happened before. The only thing I can think of is when the computer updates itself mabey it is installing more secured software, if that makes sense.

I just want to find colors she (Candice Olson) uses in smaller basements for the walls and couch. I am not sure what paint color would look good with the Oat microfiber couch from Pottery Barn. The color of the couch above is not accurate. It is about 2 shades darker in person. More like this. Sorry for all of the pics but if anyone else could give me feedback on paint color that would go with this couch. Three that I am concidering are BM Muslin and BM slate or silvery blue. Or do I keep it monochromatic because of the small space?
Interesting how the couch color changes with not only lighting but surrounding wall color and accessories.

I don't know why you're not getting more input, but maybe if you post these last three pictures again and make the new title something about choosing the right paint color. I'm new to the forum, but those posts seem to get a lot of attention and some of these people can actually take your picture and change the wall color to give you ideas. I'm not nearly enough of a computer guru to know how that is done :)

Try BM Ticonderoga Taupe or, if you want to go lighter, Greige Avenue.

Personally, I like the BM Muslin. I read somewhere (I think it was House Beautiful) where it was a favorite designer color because it did not have green,yellow or gray tones in it and it went with so many colors.

I think since the carpet has the greatest expanse it would help to see that -
Shutters may be a hinderance with other furnishings nearby - and take some natural light away - I wonder how a nice simple light drapery would look - you have enough room for stack so that the window would not be blocked by any treatments.

How do you plan to use the room?
Is this the main family room? do you have children, is this their play area -

Carpet has not been ordered. I know this may sound vague but I am looking at neutral colored carpet:beige,sand in color. I have a sample of the Oat suede. It's strange;On the one hand it looks warm/orange but on the other hand it loos kind of neutral. I have paint samples BM glass slipper ( muted blue/green), muslin, cream fleece. It seems to go well with many colors which is why I think it could look less orange and more neutral depending on what paint I choose.

This is our lounge/family room. We also have friends and family over for UFC (on demand) fights. I want it to be comfy and casual.
