Sounds like a lot of food and work. But if you enjoy it I hope all works out. We probably will stay home with a family thing. Depends on how all feels as right now we have 3 people in the family with sinus infections and all on antibiotics.

Aside from the fact that Mother's Day and Valentine's Day are the two days of the year when restaurants put in extra tables and chairs (so the restaurants end up really crowded and LOUD) so we never, ever, go to a restaurant on those days... I'm not a mother, and both my mother and hubs' mother are deceased (as are our fathers), so Mother's Day and Father's Day are two days that we don't celebrate.

I've never celebrated Mother's Day. My mother died when I was very young and I chose not to be a mother.
But I wish all the Moms a Happy Day!

Hopefully I will be planting a couple of trees. DH and grandson always ask me what I want for MD and my birthday (they are close) so I ask for trees.

I really wish someone would cook for me, but no one else in this house cooks. I will not cook, I am sick of cooking for my family so I won't do it that day for sure. But I also don't like a chaotic restaurant and having to wait. There are still kids' sports on Mothers' Day (rained out games had to be rescheduled, it was a last resort), so whatever we do will work around that.

My own mother is too far away for a meal celebration (though if we were close, I'm sure we would, we like to celebrate with food). I traditionally send her lilacs. They are her favorite and she can't grow them in FL. It takes planning to get them from her local florist, so I may need to place the order this week. Can't get them all year, so fortunately mothers' day is in the right season. ;o) It works out perfectly.

I'm with msmarion. My mother is still alive but we are estranged...have been for 9 years. DH and I also chose not to have children. But a Happy Day to everyone else.

I'll probably chill out b/c the day before is the Komen Race in Tyler and that afternoon I have a genealogical society meeting and I volunteered to help w/ refreshments, and it will be a spread. I'm sure we'll go out after church as we always do. DD#1 will probably make reservations somewhere.

Sue, somehow it doesn't seem right that YOU should be doing so much work on YOUR day...maybe you should cut back and delegate more..I know I wouldn't want to be the head cook on Mother's Day. :)

I don't enjoy Mother's Day since my little Mama died years ago. :(

If I'm lucky, I'll get a card and call from DS in AZ even tho he hasn't called in a very long time.

If it's a pretty day, I might do some container gardening.

Hi Granlan, no I won't slow down anymore until I have to. I feel like I have already slowed down too much. We are also celebrating the two oldest daughter's birthdays. They are a year and ten days apart in age. Really the menu I have isn't very hard as the meats will be cooked on the grill by son in law and I will try to fix as much ahead as I can and have it all ready. I look forward to the dinners. Hope everyone else has a good one.

Unless DH has a secret plan, we won't be doing any special for Mother's Day.
Baby girl comes home 2 days later as a college graduate, so that is going to be the big celebration!

As I told my co-workers the day we found out our retail store had its inventory scheduled
for Mother's Day (meaning no one had the day off), "at my house,everyday is Mother's Day!" LOL

My kids do alot for me all the time.. Oldest daughter is going camping for the first time of the season. They have 3 young kids and they love it. I say go and have a terrific time. The other 2 will be here sometime during the day. We will cook out. I love being a mom more then anything but I know everyone is so busy and I take what I get when they have time.. They all have families of their own.. I talk to most of them every day or two..
