Mother's Day is Coming Up What Are You Doing

I don't think we are going to be doing much for Mother's Day as Amber and Mike don't have their last bedroom painted and the hardwood down. So we all have decided to just wait and have it on Father's Day. We will have a cookout and all the trimmings. We will celebrate all the spring birthdays as well as Mother and Father's Day. Do you have plans for Mother's Day?

actually we're attending our latest dgs' baby dedication sunday morning, then i'll have lunch with the kids minus one dd. her mil is all alone so don't mind...

the day before will see her at other dgs' bday party..so it all works out...

I just walked past a new Italian restaurant in my town. I went inside and made a reservation for Mother's Day for myself and DH.

For Mother's Day Weekend I worked at my local garden center. It was packed non-stop customers Fri. Sat. and Sun. It is such a wonderful festive weekend at the nursery, live music and free hotdogs. What I especially enjoy is the wonderful crowd that comes through.. everyone is in a great mood, happy and smiling. I did get a few small windows of opportunity to tweak my waterfall/ pond which continues to leak.. I just might have to tear the waterfall apart, again, and find that leak.. it's enough of a leak so that I have to top off my pond every three days.. fortunately the leak leads into my bog garden, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.. might just leave the repairs for the end of summer, cause I have spent way too much time on the waterfall and it's now time to get to the plants!!! I put in a raised veggie bed earlier in the week and was able to plant some veggies. Bought my veggie plants and hope to have them in within the week. So it's been a garden/ plant filled weekend with work around my yard and at the garden center.

Luckygal, where in the world are you? Somewhere near a beach obviously--but which one. Sorry no good luck on the TS shopping, do keep trying! Jeanne, I have two baker's racks outside, one is a corner unit--but neither look nearly as cute as yours with your collections and vignettes. I need to work on mine I think. That is so neat that you do the Farmer's market too. Candy, I'm another one who does tablescapes for my "imaginary" friends. DH will only eat at the table when we have company--rest of the time he prefers to eat in front of the tv. Karen, I didn't do a table, but I did glue a little cheese tray and glass dome on a pedestal and decorate it--can I get any points for that? ;o) Kathleen, the rooster napkins like in your photo that you shared with me are some of my favs. We don't do sit down breakfast often, but I like to just sit the table and display them on the plates because they look so cute.

Thanks everyone for the great ideas! I will definitely write her a letter telling her how special she is to me and how glad I am that she's my MIL. Since we live 5 hours away and won't be able to be up there for Mother's Day, the pedicure won't work but I bet she'd love it. I'll save that for another time. Also, great idea to pick up some useful everyday items at Sam's. (Hi Kim!) That might be something good for my FIL on Father's Day. I'm leaning towards the Fruit of the Month club for a few months or just send her a gift basket with fruit. I've seen those edible fruit arrangements but they aren't available in their town. She'll be happy with anything so I know we can't go wrong with whatever we send. :-) Thanks again!

I am THE planner of the family. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, Birthdays, etc., all planned and hosted by me. I made a firm decision a few years ago though, one supported by my own mom, I have NOTHING to do with the mothers day plans. That is the one and only day that I simply pass the buck. I arrived at this decision on my second mothers day of being a mom. My family and I showed up at my parents house on Mother's day. Mom had spent all morning making a nice lunch for us, I had spent the better part of the day before making a nice dessert. My older brother had to be rushed to the ER due to a ruptured gallbladder. As we sat around eating dinner and waiting for updates from the ER I looked at my mom and said, "isn't this mothers day?!?!? Why did WE do all the planning and preparation?!?" So, to answer your question, I truly have no idea. It might be a Sunday like any other or we might be surprised with a gourmet meal....I just don't know. The only thing I know is, it is one of the only holiday get togethers that I DON'T (correction...WON'T) have to plan for or worry about. It will either be an awesome day planned entirely by my husband, dad and brother or it will be like any other Sunday.

I am going to Las Vegas to see my Mom (and Dad) for Mother's Day. Mom is in hospice and I hope that she remembers me..... dementia :-(.... I'll take them out to their favorite place for brunch.

This year my anniversary (30 years) falls on Mother's Day. I don't know what I'll be doing, but I WON'T be cooking!

I'm not a mother; my mother and my husband's mother both died before hubs and I ever met, so Mother's Day is just another day for us. Same with Father's Day, as our fathers both died before we met, too.

Probably nothing as far as celebrating goes - I only have my brother and my daughter left in my immediate family, my brother lives 3 hours away, my daughter has anxiety issues and doesn't go out.
My birthday is soon, don't know whether anything will happen there either. My brother was just down last week for a doctor's appointment, so I doubt he'll be making a return trip...will have to see what happens, I guess.
I am planning to go to the outdoor flea market on Mother's Day - it's always busy and with the added traffic of that day I hope to do well. It will be the first of 6 to 8 visits this Spring to unload so much stuff I have accumulated.

DD will call, DS may call (his wife is in Tokyo and not there to "remind" him) and DH says I am not his mother so that is that.

Well MY Mother's Day will be Sat. I will be spending it with my son, my daughter, my new son in law and my 5 wonderful grandkiddos!! My SIL called me last week to tell me they were all coming!! So, if God will hold off the rain, we'll be having a big bar-b-q and enjoying each other! I haven't seen them since the wedding..and I didn't really SEE them then. Everytime I looked at them, my eyes filled with (happy)tears!! lol

I will be packing for a short trip. I hope to see Carol Ca since I will be in her area.

I also just gifted myself with a new travel flat iron I bought online. ;-)

We don't really celebrate Hallmark holidays. The kids will wish me a Happy Mother's Day and DH may or may not get me a card. I detest going out on these type of holidays. Last time was years ago and I almost got into a fight with a family that had completely out of control kids. I swore back then that I would never ever dine out on a holiday again. LOL

I made and sent a special card to our daughter, who is a mother. I know our daughter will call me on Mother's Day. Other than that, we have no special plans.

DD#1 has invited me to go see "Steel Magnolias" They are doing a play in Dallas. Lunch first then the show.
Last play I went to was "Menopause" here in Fort Worth. I never knew I would enjoy plays so much, but they are really fun. If you ever get a chance, go to a play in your town, they are really great fun.

I have 2 daughters and a son. Youngest daughter will be in Flordia for her stepson's graduation, oldest one will be camping and youngest will be home with his wife and and 4 kids. I already received my gift from my youngest daughter and part from the other one. I will go down to our son's for the day. We try to get together for holidays if we can. I realize they have other sides to deal with, too. We have many special days and making it for a certain one sometimes isn't possible. I talk to 2 out of the 3 almost everyday.. I have great kids all year long... This is what makes it special for me..

We will be flying back from Montana on Mother's Day. It's just another day for me too. My kids make every day Mother's Day for me.
