Prune roses, continue to test the drip system and go to a concert. I might plant some perennials, but then again, I might wait until it's cooler next week.
I don't plant tender stuff until the first of june.
I briefly thought about going to the DBG sale, but spouse reminded me that I don't have the garden space for more plants. And it's such a zoo at the sale.

Today I put down 75 lbs. of soybean meal on the lawn, and when it cools down a bit, I plan to plant the last of my mail order perennials.

My DH cut and edged the grass for me today, as part of my Mother's Day. I hate to be an ingrate about it, but I am trying to go organic ... mow high and often, water deep and infrequent, and mulch in the clippings. Well, he lowered the mower and bagged the clippings. Then we had a bit of a "discussion" where he insisted doing it MY way would rot the grass. In this climate, cutting your grass short just means watering even more!!! Well, he won't even discuss it anymore, and I don't feel very thankful for his help.

I am just hoping that when the temperatures get around 100 degrees, that he will lose interest in lawn care, and I can continue my organic lawn care regimen.

I AM thankful for the cappuccino maker that he and the boys gave me this morning though.

This morning I spent checking out the nurseries. Didn't find much, bought a nepeta Walker's Low and a columbine. Negotiated the crowd at Home Depot to buy some stepping stones. Tomorrow if I can drag myself out of bed early enough for it to still be cool, I'll weed a little, then do some weeding, and weed some more. Maybe go back out in the cool of the evening to get a little weeding done.

I went a little nuts at the Depot today and got 4 tomato plants, 2 zukes, a yellow squash, strawberry and 2 pea plants (my seeds ended up getting baked and never sprouted) so hopefully I'll be able to get the new bed done so I can get those in the ground. I salvaged my neighbors bricks from the patio they took out and am attempting to build a raised bed on top of a retaining wall - wish me luck (I've never played with morter before it should be fun!)

My son showed up on Friday to put up my new garden shed for MD gift. I will be cleaning up the mess/yard so we can have a barbeque this afternoon.

Happy Mother's Day....the best gift from my kids is just having them here.

I spent yesterday in the garden, doing more clean up (brome is really hard to get rid of), transplanted some coneflower volunteers, planted some raspberries I got from a friend. Then I saddled up one of my horses and went for a neighborhood ride. Today, I am going to church with my family and then maybe riding with my friend.

I was told by my friend who has fabulous gardens to wait and plant at the end of May. I have some herbs I started indoors, and will transplant those early June.

May hit the local nursery on the way home from church to look at trees ;)

Got my mums and agastache from Bluestone planted. Drank gatorade. Killed more grass in the backyard for another row of tomato and pepper containers. Drank gatorade. Sowed some flower seed. Drank gatorade.

Went down to the local nursery and found a nice Earliana to even up the number of tomato plants I have. Wow! Fifty cents for OP toms and $1 for hybrids and she had nice varieties and they looked terrific. Bought a pair of Sugar Baby Watermelon transplants too. Don't have to start those seeds.

Gonna pound some more bamboo poles in the ground and plant some more tomatoes today. The ones with buds and the longer season ones are in the ground, I'm not gonna rush the others. I'll get 'em in. :)

Sowed squash seeds in pots in the basement. Drank gatorade. :)

Thankfully, about noon the clouds rolled in and stayed until late afternoon--lucky for me! I got all my outside containers planted.

My husband put wheels on two huge wooden planters before I planted flowers in them. Wow, is that ever nice for the deck! Today I get the hand tiller out and start working in compost.

I went to a local nursery (Gully's in Fort Collins) and was shocked at the crowds! They even had police officers in front on the highway directing traffic. It was total insanity, and all I wanted was a bag of potting soil (should have gone to Walmart.) But one thing I noted, everyone had a HUGE smile on their face.

I spent my weekend trying to mow down my weeds that are getting high, then I found out that you can't mow high weeds with the manual push mower I just got. The new neighbors have been complaining about me, and they're sending an inspector back out tomorrow. I can't do anything about the weeds, so I may be fined, may even lose my house.

Three day of it. Friday one game in Rush. Saturday two games in Ellicott and pratice in Rush. Sunday new gloves and kleats and two games in Kiowa. Had dinner at the inlaws on Saturday and was supposed to visit with friends Sunday, but they had something come up.
I did get a bunch of cabbage and cauliflower starts planted and cleaned stalls for Gomer. I also got the money to go and buy the cinder block from the neighbor to finish the raised beds. I am so excited!!!

Lilacs of May, do you live in or near a city? Many youth clubs (churches, etc.) will organize yard work for those who are unable to do it themselves.

If you feel comfortable posting your city, there may even be people on this forum who can help.

For Mother's Day Weekend I worked at my local garden center. It was packed non-stop customers Fri. Sat. and Sun. It is such a wonderful festive weekend at the nursery, live music and free hotdogs. What I especially enjoy is the wonderful crowd that comes through.. everyone is in a great mood, happy and smiling.

I did get a few small windows of opportunity to tweak my waterfall/ pond which continues to leak.. I just might have to tear the waterfall apart, again, and find that leak.. it's enough of a leak so that I have to top off my pond every three days.. fortunately the leak leads into my bog garden, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.. might just leave the repairs for the end of summer, cause I have spent way too much time on the waterfall and it's now time to get to the plants!!!

I put in a raised veggie bed earlier in the week and was able to plant some veggies. Bought my veggie plants and hope to have them in within the week. So it's been a garden/ plant filled weekend with work around my yard and at the garden center.
