Watching 'The Voice'? (or did you watch?)

NBC's new singing contest. This "blind" test, where the 4 professional singers don't see the person and have to focus only on the voice, not the stage presence, looks, etc., is very interesting.

A lot better than "American Idol," to me -- some really wonderful voices. And no episodes making fun of kooky people.

*Update - Well, the four of us did make it to The Chew on Tuesday and the show they were taping will be shown in most of the country on Friday, May 24th. It was very interesting to see how they shot the segments so out of sequence of the finished product. The tasters were filmed tasting the food before the hosts even began to prepare it. We completed a fun day with a visit to the American Folk Art Museum, late lunch at an Irish pub, a stop at Zabar's and some general roaming around. We took advantage of a new senior rate at one of the local bus companies for $21.50 round trip, which was a great savings. The only downside was that the show gave us these huge insulated tote bags filled with product placement samples, including a microplane zester, boxes of pasta, and large glass jars of Hellman's mayo. I like to travel light and didn't plan on toting all that around. All five co-hosts were there and interacted with the audience in between takes. Carla Hall is my favorite. We couldn't take photos during the shooting but I took one just before it started. I am truly blessed to have friends with adventuresome spirits.

I never watched the show "deliberately" -- I was just too lazy to pick up the remote and change the channel after the soaps were over! I really did like Leah (still will watch reruns of "King of Queens" -- loved her in that!). Holly -- so-so. I think there were a lot of times when Leah and Holly stole the show. Sarah Gilbert is extremely quiet. So I wonder whether Julie Chen felt threatened that there were 3 women who got more laughs and applause than she does (I'm including Sharon Osbourne in that group of 3). I believe that Sarah Gilbert is a producer of the show? Either way, with Julie Chen being married to the CBS honcho, I think it's considered HER show. I'm not that crazy about any of the new women, whether regulars or fill-ins. The Kardashian mom? BORE-ing! The new "comedian" -- not so funny, to me. The only fill-in who makes me laugh was Susie Essman. She's the one I'd want to be sitting with at a dinner party! On to "The Chew": Too many people, all trying to get in their comments, funny at times, the food-- well, there's nothing I've been tempted to try to make. Still love Carla Hall (from "Top Chef" -- remember that "Whoody-hoo" thing she did in the market?). But I really don't think that show is going to last. (OOPS! I was among some other posters who thought Nate Berkus's show would get pulled, too, tho-- so don't listen to me!) I'm still taping The View, tho -- would rather hear that group (esp Joy and Whoopi) than the other groupings.

I don't watch the show but they interviewed Sundance on a favorite radio program this morning. He has been around for a long time. His dad was a very well known singer, going as far back as the early '60's (Roy Head and the Traits.) He used to play the VFW after the local rodeo. I used to sneak off and go with my friends. My dad would have had a fit....being Quaker. BJ Thomas was another one that played little local places back then.

Watched one show, that's about all I can handle. If the contestants used their brains for a winning monetary result (aka-Jeopardy) it would be more enjoyable to watch. All theatrics.

I hate reality type shows but this one intrigued me because of the "blind" audition so I did watch. I was pleasantly surprised with it and will watch it again next week. I just hope they don't start all the garbage that the other reality shows have. It was very civil and no over the top drama....just voices.

I enjoyed it. I'm a big fan of Blake and Miranda--and I thought he was the best of all the stars last night. Some good talent--I especially liked the young guy with the cowboy hat...he had a great voice and presence.

I did watch it and liked the new spin on this show. I am already sick of Christina though, she just keeps talking and talking and not letting the others talk, thought there was going to be some boxing gloves coming out there for a minute.
I like Blake too and I like the ones he picked.

Anyone else recognise Frenchie Davis who Christina picked? She got kicked off American Idol for *inappropriate* photos a few years back.

I watched and loved the show. That Adam Levine from Maroon 5 is really funny. I've had enough of C.A. too. Can't wait to see it again. Love the concept.

It is on again tonight...plus it is repeated a number of times on "E" television. Worth watching IMO.

I'm watching it right now online. I don't watch idol...
or any other singing, dancing show. I heard so many people
talking about this one today, so I decided to watch.

We watched it when NBC reran it last night, I really liked it and so did DH. Much more professionally done than Idol and without that Ryan...a huge improvement to me!

I too like that there isn't anyone making fun of anyone or any making faces. We'll be watching it again.

I really liked it, too, although I wish Christina could back off a little on her ego and control-issues. Should be interesting to watch throughout all the stages that the teams have planned for them.
