What about an iron bed? Or are you wanting a wood framed bed? Will you be doing headboard and footboard or just headboard?

I know upholstered headboards may be trendy...

But. With rustic-ness of the dresser, an upholstered headboard would be a nice, feminine accent. It will bring some softens to the room and can match any colors you already have.

I was also going to suggest an upholstered headboard. Something with clean lines, not tufted or fussy.

I'm voting for the iron bed. Not sure I would like trendy upholstered head board with that dresser. Although it is definitely shown in the above picture, it does not look comfortable. JMHO.

I find iron beds to be uncomfortable to lean against - any bed with bars.

I've had an iron bed and now have an upholstered headboard, and the latter is much more comfortable if you're someone who likes to sit up in bed and read or watch TV. I think a tailored upholstered headboard would be great with your furniture. Try West Elm or Crate and Barrel.

I like the simple upholstered idea, too. Never having one, I worry about cleaning...hmmm, and my cat!

I really like what you have, though. The only other thing that popped into my head was a painted headboard. You can make one, simply, and paint it whatever you like. With the wood you already have, that might not be the way you want to go, though.

I was going to suggest an iron bed until I saw you already have a gorgeous one. It looks great with your dresser (I have that dresser!). Is there a reason you want to change it?

I would love to have an iron bed like yours. We have the mission bed to match the dresser and it's not very comfortable to lean up against either. Plus, the sharp corner of the footboard always seems to catch my hip as I walk by!

I like the upholstered beds if you're looking for more comfort.

Thanks for the vote of confidence on the iron bed. I'm having decorating melt-down after making some expensive decisions via a decorator that just weren't quite what I thought they would be and now I'm stuck with them and sick about it. I was thinking of moving it to the guest room but now I'm thinking I will keep it there and get another iron bed for the guest room. I'd love to get some opinions on how to finish the room - should I do that in a separate post with more pictures of the room or continue here? Maybe I'll do both :-) Thanks everyone please keep the thoughts coming.
