Need PS help plus votes for paint/rug for DD's room!
Comments (14)Delta: I love that chair rail organizer idea, unfortunately I don't think we have the wall space for anything like that. Almost all the walls will have furniture against them or back up to a door--except for the corner where the oak hutch is now which I'll probably put her easel there until she outgrows it in another year or so. I do agree she needs some type of hanging coat rack and saw a few iron with curlicue ones on eBay--but that's for the finishing touches. What did you think of the Barely Teal I have above? It's the lightest color on the aqua strip. lyban: Hmmm... the lime ones do look pretty good. I'll have to look at those some more when I get ready to order my next batch of samples. DD prefers aqua with lime accents. Other option is this aqua rug on Overstock.com: http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Hand-woven-Majesta-Shag-Rug-5-x-8/2870502/product.html It's hard to tell from the pics, I apologize, but her room is very small. We currently have an accent wall, but I don't think it works in a room her size--also was thinking the same with an accent ceiling. I'm actually wondering if it'd be better to paint the ceiling the same as the walls to give it a more expansive feeling? As much as I like the seafoam furniture, I feel it's starting to pull this room in another direction. I was thinking the color that would really compliment it is a pale lavender... but that is not DD's wish. Hopefully some kind soul will take pitty on me and lend some photoshop help so I know which direction to go for paint samples....See MoreFollow up to bedding for DD with eczema
Comments (3)Les: Thanks for the suggestions about the valance. Using the sheet fabric is how I made the previous one, though I like your idea of doing white with orange and pool striping. Would you suggest horizontal or vertical striping? Assume you mean I should try to match material for the striping to these colors--what type of materal/notion do you think would work for the stripes? A ribbon or tape? This route I could get a ready made valance. As for room layout, my DD has the smallest room in the house--something like only 9x10 with one wall taken up with a closet and door return, another with the window and another short wall where the door is. There is really only room for the bed, nightstand and a desk/hutch. Not even space for a dresser so she has a closet organizer with drawers plus drawers in her captain's bed. I guess the layout is easy because there is no other way things will fit. lynn: I love your layered bedding suggestions! I think some type of white coverlet which she could use on top or under the duvet is an excellent idea. DD is a bit of a slob, though, and her sheets get scrutched up at the base or worse yet, on the floor. organic_smallhome, if you're reading this, or anyone else with experience dealing with skin issues, I'd love some additional feedback before placing my order....See MoreDo you have eczema?
Comments (28)debn, we wondered about that but I think that's been ruled out. The gloves produced sweaty hands that led to this. He hasn't worn latex/vinyl gloves since last November and still has this "thing" on his hands. He'd worn gloves on and off for small projects and never had a problem. It was only when he started wearing them for hours at a time when the skin problem started. His hands look so bad that he can't hand a card to a merchant without people staring at his hands. People obviously are wondering what's wrong with his hands. If I weren't his mother I wouldn't want him touching anything I had to handle. His hands are raw, scabby, blistered, peeling and look like they're rotting. This condition is causing him to become very depressed, not just because of the discomfort, but because of the impact it's had on his dealing with other people both at work and at social functions. I'm praying that his Dr can come up with a method of controlling this other than steroids. He can't stay on steroids for the rest of his life....See MoreEczema
Comments (15)Cortisone/hydrocortisone cream. Used to treat insect bites, mild skin rashes, poison ivy, and eczema. Ask your pediatrician how often you can apply it and if it's OK to use on your child's face. It should never be used for chickenpox, burns, infections, or open wounds or on broken skin. Then by that standard it should never be used at all since exzema usually means broken skin. South Carolina Children's Hospital report Itching & Burn Care:....Topical corticosteroids (such as hydrocortisone) may be recommended by your child's physician. Hemorrhoidal Indian Journal Of Critical Care Medicine Effect of low-dose corticosteroids in burn wound sepsis: A report of two cases There has been a recent resurgence in the use of corticosteroids for the treatment of haemodynamic insufficiency in septic patients. The low doses of steroids now recommended are believed to be effective either because of their anti-inflammatory properties or their benefit on the "relative adrenal insufficiency" that occurs in these patients. I could cite more but won't bother. I've used corticosteroids/pseudosteroids=hydrocortisone for the past 29 years. Doc prescribed it for my eczema, but I've used on practically everything (never use on face). After burning my finger while welding, I cannot see any evidence of a wide open burn that actually needed stitches. I always use it on my grandchildren for minor burn and scrapes (in addition to antibiotics) so they won't scar. And in my girlfriend's burn case, it took a second trip to the hospital because they couldn't find the cause of the pain in her thigh. I know the creams will completely restore the skin and mask any other symptoms, and that's the reason I suggested not putting any on your daughter's hand until you know what you're treating....See Morerobynpa
