It's eczema
Comments (10)I second the rec about quitting bread etc. Eczema is an allergy or autoimmune disorder. Mine was in full throttle and when I changed allergists and he did some skin tests, I came up allergic to wheat, yeast, potatoes, tuna, sesame, bananas, peanuts, plums and clams. I quit them all and no more eczema. I'm not saying that he's allergic to any or all of them, but I'm sure if he has more than one, they're wreaking havoc with his immune system. I feel SOOOOO much better now in so many ways! BTW, I use Aquaphor as my hand moisturizer, Glycolic acid lotion by DDF for my arms and legs and Eucerin Calming Cream for my face. Good luck to the poor guy, tell him to take it easy with that shoulder now too!...See MoreEczema
Comments (15)Cortisone/hydrocortisone cream. Used to treat insect bites, mild skin rashes, poison ivy, and eczema. Ask your pediatrician how often you can apply it and if it's OK to use on your child's face. It should never be used for chickenpox, burns, infections, or open wounds or on broken skin. Then by that standard it should never be used at all since exzema usually means broken skin. South Carolina Children's Hospital report Itching & Burn Care:....Topical corticosteroids (such as hydrocortisone) may be recommended by your child's physician. Hemorrhoidal Indian Journal Of Critical Care Medicine Effect of low-dose corticosteroids in burn wound sepsis: A report of two cases There has been a recent resurgence in the use of corticosteroids for the treatment of haemodynamic insufficiency in septic patients. The low doses of steroids now recommended are believed to be effective either because of their anti-inflammatory properties or their benefit on the "relative adrenal insufficiency" that occurs in these patients. I could cite more but won't bother. I've used corticosteroids/pseudosteroids=hydrocortisone for the past 29 years. Doc prescribed it for my eczema, but I've used on practically everything (never use on face). After burning my finger while welding, I cannot see any evidence of a wide open burn that actually needed stitches. I always use it on my grandchildren for minor burn and scrapes (in addition to antibiotics) so they won't scar. And in my girlfriend's burn case, it took a second trip to the hospital because they couldn't find the cause of the pain in her thigh. I know the creams will completely restore the skin and mask any other symptoms, and that's the reason I suggested not putting any on your daughter's hand until you know what you're treating....See MoreDo you have a tiller? If so, what do you have?
Comments (2)If you are using raised beds you don't need a tiller. It would be impossible to use it in raised beds. I use a garden claw and it works great in good soil but wouldn't work in clay. I suggest you make your beds and fill them with good soil because clay takes a lot of amending to make a good growing medium but is fine and holds moisture under a layer of good loam. If you need a tiller occasionally you can rent them by the day. When we first moved to our house the soil was all clay. We did buy a tiller because we wanted a garden(not raised beds). We moved in late summer and that fall and let it be known that we would rake leaves if we could keep them. We spread them on the ground and tilled them in. The next summer we planted our garden and what a dismal failure it was. Plant roots have a hard time growing in clay. It took 3 years of raking and tilling and amending the garden with what compost we made and old manure(fresh manure has lots of weed seeds)before we got a decent garden...See MoreEczema or allergic reaction
Comments (85)Olychick. You would think carrying the inhalers wouldn't be too strenuous a task I have a meeting at the school next week about Chips rescue inhaler. Good.....gives me time to have the doctors draft letters which I must have. When I'm done Chip will have access to his rescue within a arms length away...his pocket hopefully. Sunscreen was Coppertone Baby Aerosol. AND the teacher was not allowed to put sunscreen on any child. There were 5 kids in this group as they are split up in smaller groups. 3 children were treated for itchy rash the following day with Chip being one of them. At first when the school told me this I thought than surely it was caused from something else but none of the children from the other groups got a rash as far as the school knows. I spoke with the ped doctor today. He returned my call within a hour. We spoke about doing a test with the sunscreen...he said i can't tell you to do it but if it was my kid I would want to know if the sunscreen caused it and I'd put a small pea sized amount between the shoulder blades where the child won't scratch it open. He said if I decide to do this wait until school is over and do it on a Monday so he will be in the office. So the teacher wasn't even permitted to put sunscreen on the kids. But I know the teacher was only trying to be helpful . Bet she won't do it again. So what do you all think considering 3 out of 5 kids got a rash?...See Moreshellm
