Oh, Janie, that doesn't look like fun. I had something like that once, I didn't go to the doctor right away and I got it to clear up on its own. I remember it was kind of scaley and swollen and I slathered vaseline on my lids, careful to not get it in my eyes. It did the trick for me.

I hope it clears up and goes away soon, sweetie! Tell Stewie to massage your temples for you. It'll help, I swear. lol Oh, and you have really pretty eyes, even if they are kind of red right this minute.

I had contact dermititis once on my eyes and it itched like crazy and kinda flaked off. Do yours itch? Anyway, a treatment of hydrocortison cream cleared it right up.

I have some prescription rash cream (see below) and it is Vaseline based, maybe I will try that along with the Elidel. Stewie would LOVE THAT!!! He thinks anything with Vaseline is a cat treat- he will be licking my eyes all night!

I cannot use over the counter hydrocortisone or similar topical products. I am allergic to one of the preservatives. Nothing like going to the dermatologist because the more medicine you put on a rash, the worse it gets- she quickly informed me not to try that stuff again. LOL

Janie, was you eye itching before this breakout? I have eczema on both eyes. I find that before the actual breakout, my eyes get very itchy. I use Elidel and/or Elicon on mine when they act up. When they are clear, I use vaseline to keep the area moist. Seems that stress is always a factor with my eczema.

I read that Elidel has a strong cancer warning attached to that particular ointment for eczema. Just wondering if you were both aware of that?

I have had eczema all my life, & as miserable as that is, I won't use elidel. Your eye really looks irritated, but if it's not itching, I wonder if it really is eczema? Almost looks like a stye. I used Carmex on the lid of my eye (being careful not to get it into my eye--ouch)and that seemed to help me as crazy as that sounds.

Infections around the eye can range from benign nusiance to serious. A serious infectionc can lead to more eye problems several years later.

I have now developed an epiretinal membrane over the sensitive part of my sight receptors possibly stemming from an infection of the eye several years ago. Prognosis is that it will not 'cure' itself, but may increase in severity in time to the point where eye surgery will be required to restore good sight. This is not a simple surgery. The surgeon pokes a hole in the eyeball and inserts tiny insturments to peel away the membrane. This procedure has many hazards, one of which is the posibility of being made blind (1 in 100). Often, cataracts develop after this surgery. Because of this, some eye surgeons advise a cataract surgery be preformed at the same time as the epiretinal peel. The healing period afterward is not a picnic, either.

The eyes are nothing to fool around with. You should see a doctor.
