I love road trips. I guess I would drive really far for a vacation or to visit friends!

I wouldn't drive that far for the dentist. I like my dentist, but I'm not that attached to him. I don't think there are many things I would drive that for... except maybe to visit friends or relatives. Well.. some relatives.

I drive an hour and fifteen minutes each way for my doctor (the doctors nearby wouldn't treat me for my Hashimotos or they only prescribed Synthroid).

I drove almost 3 hours to pick up a bar (wooden with a marble top) I won on eBay a few years ago. Most of the time I wouldn't drive more than an hour... depends on what it is though and how bad I want it.

lol...I may just start driving to Iowa for my tobacco. Had mild sticker shock when I bought some Saturday. At least in Iowa I wouldn't be hit with the high IL taxes.

We're only moving about an hour away, but plan on keeping most of our drs., our dentist, bank, accountant, etc. We did switch eye drs because the opthalmologist DD works for is one of the top ones in the country and he's got an office about 2 blocks from our new house.

I've been known to drive a couple of hours away for good ice cream--LOL. And we will sometimes drive about 90 miles from home to shop in a state that has no sales tax.

Only worry I'd have with going 3 hours to the dentist would be what would happen if I had a dental emergency--that would be a long, long ride with a toothache.

My sister, two friends and I have driven 5 - 6 hours from Toronto to Grove City, PA, to shop and to have a girls' getaway. It's great fun!

I used to drive over 7 hours each way to see my boyfriend. I did that every other weekend for four months, then we got a place together.

It was worth it though...we'll be married 16 years in November. :-)

I would drive several hours to see someone or something I really wanted to see. Not a dentist though.

About 4-5 years ago, I drove from, basically, Philadelphia to Akron and back - in a single day - to go to a house party to meet some cousins whom I didn't know existed.

I left as soon as I woke up on a Saturday morning...and got home around 2AM the next morning.

It was well worth it.

I will drive 552 miles to meet my new grand child (due next week). But then I have driven that distance quite often, to see my daughter. Before I moved, the drive was 93 miles longer.

I guess I can't see driving long distances for things you can get closer. I'm sure I can find a dentist or doctor within 1/2 hr at least. I don't mind driving for recreation or a special purpose. Used to drive to Canada occasionally to sightsee..... and to get beer.

Eric and I decided that we would drive either to New York (?miles) or Atlanta (700 miles) if he liked the hearing aids he tried out at Christmastime. Those are the closest place to get the brand. He decided against getting them right now but we were willing if they actually worked!

I like a road trip, too, but not for something I could do just as well closer. I would drive anywhere for someONE important to me.

My mom just drove about 900 miles roundtrip this weekend to see DD compete in her last gymnastics meet of the season. She drove up Friday afternoon, arrived around 10:30pm. Spend Saturday with us, watched the meet Sunday from 8am to 1pm (which was another hour north), then drove back to FL the same day (again arriving home around 10:30pm) b/c she had to work today.

There is a little girl here who *knows* her grandma loves her!!

Two years ago we drove a bit over 5 hours to get some fish for the pond.....koi. Drove down, bought them, drove back all in one day.

I drive 6 hours each way to see the doctor who repaired the nerve in my arm. People come from all over the world to see her. I have made the drive twice in the last few weeks and will do it again in 3 weeks for a post surgery check. That time DS will be here and we will combine the doctor trip with a mini vacation and spend 2 nights in St Louis doing the tourist thing. Fortunately, my doctor is letting me get my wound check here locally this week and my suture removal here the following week.

Karen, in the 70's my sister and I traveled for over 2 hours to see Tom Jones in person...it was soooo worth it! :)

Drove three hours to save $5,000 on a new motorcycle a few years ago. We used to drive 1 1/2 to get our favorite pizza. Now it would be 1800 miles, much too far, so we don't eat much pizza since moving to FL.

I used to drive 900 mi. (each way) 4-6 times a year to see or babysit the grandkids. Did that for 7 yrs, until we moved 45 mins. away from them. Pat

We do drive about 2 1/2 hours for the cardiologist as he is so good. Our reg Dr is very good about referrals out of the area and our insurance is good all over the world. At the same time will go to Sam's club for food cannot get in Minot. Will drive up to 1 1/2 for church meetings because these same people will drive here when it is our turn.

We plan on driving over 1000 miles to Montana to pick up some antiques I bought. To me...it's worth it. I wouldn't drive 3 hours to the dentist though. I don't like them that much. LOL

We drive 100 mi. to see our eye Dr. once or twice a year.
Drove an 600 mi. round trip one time to pick up a car we bought on e-bay. Best little gas mileage car we have ever had.

Across North Cascade Highway, thru Chelan and across Blewitt Pass to see my cousin; and have lunch at her cafe..probably 300 miles but what a drive! I could go interstate 90 quicker, but we love the drive.

500 miles round trip to the Oregon Coast to see my son and his wife every three months.

60 miles 2 times a week to see my Grandkids.

Hey Jennmonkey!! 70 miles to go to XXX Rootbeer in Issaquah! 40 miles to Bellingham for Boomers! Now those are good road trips! Kathy

I drove 900 miles to the start of my Texas Tour. Drove a total of almost 3,000 miles from start to finish.

I drove 660 miles to Bakersfield on my motorcycle for a KT get together. Actually went there twice.

I love to drive, you have to drive a lot to get anywhere from where I live. I have to drive 70 miles one way just to shop in Tucson.

drive 3hrs to dd1...do that couple of times a year...they come over here alot...

DH and I also drive over an hour for pizza.

I have driven almost an hour for some little Krystal cheeseburgers...lol! We don't have a Krystal any closer than this and there are times that I just have to have one of those little burgers!!! Thank goodness we can crank up the Harley to make this trip and save on gas.

My DH and I have been known to drive hundreds of miles just for lunch...We live in SW Pa and he'd say, lets go for a ride....Hoping since the gas prices have gone down, we'll take up that habit again....
My DDIL comes from N. Carolina to see her MS doctor....She feels this doctor knows her case and wouldn't want to find someone else....

I've drive cross country many times to see family, a day or two to visit other family and friends. Used to drive up to five hours when I was stationed in Germany just to go on an organized walk.

This weekend we're driving 2 1/2 hours away to Indiana to go Morel mushroom hunting. I'm going to let Alex do the driving since he needs more hours to get his lisence.

One of my doctors is 25 miles away. Don't know if I would go over an hour to see a doctor, though. I did that when we lived in NV. Hard to find a good doctor or good shopping in the tiny town I lived in. We used to do all our school shopping for clothes in Reno, which was an hour away when I was a kid.

The closest hospital to us now is about a 20 minute drive.

I've also driven to Lexington (25 miles) and Louisville (60 miles) for better food choices when eating out, movies, and pool supply shopping since there were no pool dealers anywhere else that carried the filters I needed. Glad I don't have to do that anymore.

We ride about an hour to get the "best" broasted chicken. Other than that, we're kind of isolated in the middle of nowhere. There's nothing better in the neighboring towns of where we live (Bend, Oregon) that is really worth the drive - but we have been known to drive to Portland for good sushi/road trip, which is about 3.5 hours, but have made a weekend of it.
