Played cards with some old friends last night

A couple who lived right behind us for years, when the kids were little. Called and were going to be here last night. Wanted to know if we wanted to play cards.

We had so much fun.

Everytime we get together it is just like no time has been lost. They don't live far (about 45 mins to an hour)

But things get in the was. They have been busy the last few years raising a grandson. He is now 14 so they have a little more time.

Do you have any good old friends like that?

While my DH and I have several friends that fit your description, there are a few that I wish we had kept in touch with over the years. Oh well.

Yes we do. Old friends are so easy to be with. We aren't near any right now, but several are coming to visit. Glad you had such a good evening.

Pattico, I vote to keep it up and use it for seasonal displays. It sure made a great backdrop for the photos. Send updated pics.Thanks for sharing. I have some old weathered picket fencing that I use for my flower bed. I have more and I think I am going to copy your idea.LOL Pat P

Barbra I do not remember which member talked about the peanut germination method. All I remember is that Karyn used biodegradeble ones, without knowing that they were and they dissolved and all got mixed up :-( All you do is cut a slit in the peanut. Insert the seed so the bottom immerses into the water. Which is warm and in a shallow container. I did change the water but they germinate real fast. After they had germinated I planted them in a container. That is how I grew mine out. I am with Bob. When you grow them from seeds, you get so many interesting growing Plumeria's!! From Pictures for GW friends I love this one. Just because it is totally different from all the other seedlings. I'm not an expert so probably can't help but... I think you have enough speed you shouldn't even need to let it buffer, but know how to do so, so it's probably not Internet speed. Your system seems fine specification-wise. To me anyway. I don't think or know much about video cards but I wouldn't think it would be the physical card, but I don't really know. My wild guess would be the driver. :) This is what mine shows when I go to "System settings"--->"Additional Drivers": If it were me, I'd try a different driver if there's any listed there. Maybe you already have? Other than that, I don't have a clue. I'm running 12.04 and youtube's and other videos play fine for me. If someone else here doesn't have the answer, there's always the Ubuntu forum. Just a thought. Well, Carol, while I was sitting here wondering why anyone would leave their purse in the garage....(not only do I want my purse handy, in case I need to run out the front door, but I'm thinking of my lipsticks and eyeliner pencils melting in the heat of the garage inside their little bag in my purse)...I happened to think of something dumb that I do. My DD leaves for work through the laundry room/garage door, locking that door behind her and closing the garage by remote as she pulls out her car. My DH leaves out the front door and used to lock it behind him. But when the weather is nice, (about 9 months of the year) I leave the front door standing open. And the screen/storm door is not locked. My purse sits on the sideboard in full view of the unlocked, open door. And I go get in the shower. So...........I will be rethinking my own bad habits too. One thing I do that's a good habit....I had DH buy a strong clip for my car & house keys. So they are on a ring with the clip. When I get out of my car, I clip the keys onto a big ring of my purse strap. That way, the keys are out when I walk to my car........never have to search for them and they are easy to grab to use the panic button on my car. Red

Yes, we get together often with several from years ago. It is a blast. The silly things that we thought we had long forgotten. A few of them are raising their grandkids, too. It has been a difficult thing for some but they all do the best they can.

Yes, and they live far away, one in NV and one in VA. I see the one in NV whenever I go back home. We spent some time together last summer and she took us out to Pyramid Lake which is part of the reservation she lives on. There were some older ladies working at the gift shop/museum there and we were talking. They told us they'd been friends since they were kids and my friend told her the same thing about her and I. We've known each other since I was 10. I'm her oldest friend, which I had never realized till she told them! MY oldest friend lives in VA. We've known each other since I was 7 and she was 5. I see her every few years now too, that I live out East.

I love it when DH and I get together with old friends who know how to play EUCHRE!! i grew up on my dad's lap learning how to play that game!! Glad you had a good time Pattico!

This past Wednesday evening I met an old friend for supper at a local restaurant. We became best friends in the 9th grade and saw each other through a lot of ups and downs. We knew we would always be good friends because we know too much about each other and on each other. Work and life got in the way and the last time we saw each other was about 20 years ago. My brother got in touch with her about a year ago and gave her my e-mail address. We've talked via the internet all this time due to conflicting work and family schedules. Her mother moved in with her as well as an aunt and she's been busy with them; me with Anna's schedule since I retired. Anyway we met last week and talked and talked and talked. We still have a lot to catch up on so we are going to get together in a few more days. We had a great time.

Yes we also have quite a few couples who have been friends for a very long time. One couple we play Mexican Train with quite often.....they were the first couple to have us over after we were married (almost 40 years ago). Other couples although with military transfers for everyone we have managed to remain in contact with.....we go see them and they drop in to see us, the best thing about most of these people is that it is like we still lived just around the corner (so to speak) and not halfway across the country (as in some cases). Nothing like a good friend, old or new. Budster

Used to, but the guy died and his wife moved to Tennessee to live with a daughter and now she is in bad health. We had so much fun together for about 25 years.

Yes, just last Sunday a couple we have known for 35 years came by. They actually got lost using their GPS System on a trip to San Antonio and called us to ask where they were. LOL! They happened to be only 5 miles from my house, so we told them to come by here for a "rest stop".

We caught up on Family and had some refreshments. Gave them "specific" directions and told them forget the GPS.

That was a nice "surprise" visit.
