Prayer Request Please

I have a good friend in CA whose DH fell off a horse last Wednesday. His name is Jim and they live in Sonoma County where I used to live. Jim has been taking horseback riding lessons this past year or so and it was his first time bareback riding when he fell. He had 3 broken ribs, one of which punctured a lung. On Friday she went to the hospital to bring him home but doctors were just inserting a chest tube into his lung and he needed to stay longer. Later that day she noticed he was clammy and disoriented (she is a nurse) she rang for the nurse. They moved him to ICCU and gave him 5 units of blood. About 2 a.m. today she got a call to return to the hospital. He is now intubated and on a ventilator because he has pneumonia.

Please keep Jim in your prayers. He is 61 and was in very good health until last week. They have been my friends for 32 years and I stay with them every year when I go to CA to visit.

Connie are there any state programs for folks with no health insurance? We are in the same boat but the FL Dept of Education has a Voc Rehab program that's wonderful. Make some calls. DH had a heart attack and a stroke and didn't know what was happening to him and never told me. Urrgh Men! Three stents later he's feeling much better. Now he has problems with fluid on both knees. I wonder if some meditation might help or teaching him how to go to a happy place. I know it sounds corny but I go to my happy place (walk on the beach or a walk in the woods on a sunny winter's day) when life gets stressful or I can't fall asleep. Good thoughts and prayers coming your way. I hope there is an easy fix for his problems.

Jannie I am so sorry to hear this. Yes indeed, God does hear prayers. My own mother passed away 3 years ago from COPD, diabetes and kidney problems, so I understand what you're going through. It is good that your brother is there most of the time, because it sounds like she's going to need more help and care as time goes on. There are many good websites about COPD that tell you what to expect and what your options are, etc. so you and your brother can be prepared. They were a big help to me at the time. I'm going to be praying for you, your brother and your mother.

I'm sorry to hear this--what a shock it must have been. It's great that he's in otherwise good health, which will help him lick the pneumonia. I'll keep him in my prayers.

Sending prayers and wondering what hospital he was in. The do have some great ones in that area. My kids use to live near there and my two gd were born near there.
