I have a new name. I have been uncomfortable with having my real name "out there" for quite some time for various reasons, so made the change. I feel a bit less conspicuous now. ;-)

Seriously, though, I understand why you'd want to use something other than your real name.

There are 2 different ideas of thatch in grassy lawns. The dead grass blades that cover the soil between plants is not a serious thatch issue. The other thatch issue involve the roots and stems growing above the soil simply feeding on the water and fertilizers as they are applied. The problem with this type pf thatch is more severe because there is very little root growing into the actual soil. Your last photo just has some grass and a dark spot on my screen, so a caption of what we are looking at would clarify which type of thatch you are concerned with.

You're supposed to wear tyvek suits and dispose of them with the rest of the waste, because the lead dust in your clothes will contaminate other things in the washer. Other than that, you did it exactly by the book. There are cleaning products optimized for lead dust. Like TSP. Casey

I am, of all things, a construction defect atty, usually representing homeowners suing developers. (Before you ask, I don't often do remodel cases because homeowners are usually better off working things out unless they have a truly unscrupulous contractor -- but a lot of contractors just won't work with me for that reason alone.) I am thus a terrible snob about concrete and floors :) I recently settled a large case, realized that every single appliance in my kitchen was non-functional to a degree, and decided that I deserved a new kitchen. I fell in love with azul macaubas granite, obsessed about finding the right stone without blowing my budget, scoured the internet for pix of azul macaubas in kitchens, and thus found this site (thank you, theresab, cloudswift, and others). As my tastes evolved I realized that even though I've always lived in the suburbs, I'm a country chick inside. Thus, my dream kitchen has a farmhouse sink, beadboard touches, and schoolhouse lighting, along with that drop dead gorgeous azul macaubas. I want my kitchen to have a lot of blue without putting that color on every single cabinet, floor, ceiling, walls, etc. The first thing I did in starting the remodel project was to find a Thermador stove with blue knobs on ebay for half price. I'm making decisions, with the help of this site, on faucets, lighting, and floor tile while waiting for cabinets to arrive. In my spare time, I trail run and hike, quilt, and raise teenage boys.

"Not only do they not follow directions they will not ask for them!" We have an old joke that we pass around every year at our Passover Seder table because we try and inject a little humor into everything ;o) Traditionally, the youngest child recites "The Four Questions"...somehow this joke has always seemed to find its way at the end of "The Four Questions", being dubbed as "The Fifth Question". We even say it in Yiddish. We still can't remember who started it LOL. Question: Why did Moses travel in the desert for 40 days and 40 nights? Answer: Because Moses was a man and you know men don't ask for directions.

Were it not for being easily identifiable, I would never have changed. I've gotten used to my old name too, and just hope I can remember the new one! But really, there have been occasions when I was hesitant to post certain things, simply because I am identifiable - and there are good reasons for not wanting to be at this point in my life.

All the bees in the hive died last year due to an attack by wax moths. Should I change my name? Well, he is a beekeeper at heart, and once we are in the new house, he will start again next spring.

Call me Notabeekeeperswife....

Just kidding. I'll make a note Sunny of the change.

I thought you were too familiar with the forum to be new! Nice name...is that what you're naming your house too? There was another poster to had named her cottage. I forget the name though. Do you remember who I'm referring too? Crap, this is going to bug me all night! LOL I'll just call you Sunny C if that's okay

Aw, thanks for the kind words! Not really naming my house SunnyCottage - I just liked the way it sounded. I do have a fat little cat named Sunny, so it somehow seemed to suit. Lukki, I am recalling that someone had named her house ... who was it? Now that's gonna bug me too!

SunnyCottage is perfect! Oh the things I should have thought of before choosing a Username. Or was it soooo long ago that we'd never really thought about our names being out there in some form?

Honestly - I'm just that unimaginative. Probably should have called myself 'Idunno' or 'Huh?'.
