half bath side hustle- tile shortage? 2 wallpapers?
Comments (6)Ok, well if it is already a dark little room, are you sure you want to put that dark wallpaper in there? I'd be worried it will feel like a cave. Maybe you need to consider upgrading your lighting in that room. Of the vanity choices you show, my first choice would be the first one. Looks like Dark Oak and a Craftsman type style. That reads the most "farmhouse" to me...the other two are much more modern and the middle one reads very mid century modern to me. The little I've seen of the decor in the washroom doesn't make me think MCM would match. Would it be a LOT of work to get rid of the wallpaper? I think if you are going with the darker coloured vanity and light floors, I'd find a paint colour that works with the flooring colour a bit more than the blue does. Maybe something like BM Seapearl (below). Or maybe you put the colour below the trim piece and white walls above if you are going to have white toilet and sink. I do like the artwork you've got on the walls - very farm like and lovely. A very nice touch....See MoreHelp me pick a wallpaper for my powder room!
Comments (45)I will disagree with Jan. Doing one wall in paper can turn out nicely and allow for a busier paper than would otherwise be comfortable, especially in a small space. I have hung wallpaper in many rooms myself including those I've pasted and those that were prepasted, but I've never done peel and stick. I'm not sure how it would work as, part of hanging paper, is being able to slide it so that you can get the seams to line up perfectly so they don't show. With it sticking on contact, I would think that would make it much harder. If you do decide to paper yourself, make sure you book the paper (folding each strip glue side to glue side and letting it rest). Also I've found that the fuzzy part of a paint roller, not in the handle, is a great smoothing tool...it allows you to apply enough pressure without scratching the paper at all. And absolutely prep the walls before hand or you will hate yourself when you decide to remove it....See MoreTile ideas to go with this vanity and wallpaper!
Comments (2)Thoughts: - That's a very neutral vanity, which will match pretty much anything -- that's good because you'll be able to change things up over the years. - That wallpaper is very cool! But it's a strong color. How big is your bathroom? If it's small or doesn't have a window, I'd consider using the wallpaper on an accent wall. - I don't love subways either -- too much grout and overdone. For the shower, I'd get a large-scale tile for the walls (either white or off-white, whichever matches that wall paper). I'd use a shower pan instead of tile on the shower floor. I prefer laminate flooring (warmer, easier on the joints), but if you're going with tile on the floor, I'd like to see penny rounds -- they'd echo the round jellyfish in the wallpaper, and they'd give you a pattern....See Morepowder room design ideas--silver wallpaper alert
Comments (18)Cosmetic updates to an existing powder room do not require you to bring it up to modern code. Ignore all that and make it pretty. Will you use a marble chair rail to separate the wall finishes? Painted rail? The little things are the hard ones. I like Jan's vanity. It's pretty much what you need. It'll look better with chrome than the faucet it is pictured with. I happen to love the old "builder gizmo, sunk into the wall" TP holders in a small bathroom. They can save valuable inches. If you can afford the space, something modern would be appropriate....See MoreAnnie Deighnaugh
