So I just looked at some of the threads and realize that I hadn't considered whether this would be appropriate for the house/room. We have an American four-square that is nearly 10 years old. Unfortunately, we did not pay much attention to maintaining a certain style when furnishing the house. We just bought furniture and decorations we liked. Our dining room, where the beadboard wallpaper would go, is Queen Anne (at least that room is consistent), and it's just boring. We want to put the wallpaper about 1/3 of the way up the wall, with a chair rail. I do think it would look nice, but is that a bad fit with Queen Anne furniture and in a four-square? The thing is, we can't do anything too ornate b/c the dining room and living room are attached, and the living room is more casual. I thought beadboard would strike the right note. We did consider wainscoting, but that would be a bit of a pain to install. Also like some of the other paintable wallpaprs, but fear they are either (1) too ornate when compared to the living room or (2) too casual for the dining room. Help!

I used this wallpaper to put beneath the chair rail in my bedroom and bath, and painted it after it was hung two years ago. It's held up very well, and looks like the real thing. We had installed wood bead board in our kitchen the same year, and people coming to the house saw the bedroom and thought it was the same. I'm very pleased with how it looks and how well it has held up.

Sorry, but my gut reaction is it would not coordinate well with QA style.

I am of the belief that bead board can work with any style, especially Queen Anne since QA was around back when houses had the real bead board for ceilings and walls. I like white bead board. Have had natural wood in the past and it is fine, but find white bead board much more cheerful and pretty.

I have real beadboard in one of my bedrooms that is casual traditional, beadboard in a bath that is old world and beadboard in a bath that is transitional. It looks great in all the rooms.

I ordered my G&B prepasted wallpaper from Home Depot and used it on my painted laundry room cabinets. It was thick, easy to use and paints nicely. I think it's very realistic looking and have fooled quite a few people IRL. If I were to use it again, I'd go with the same kind.

Thanks for the follow-ups. I guess I have to mull it over some more. Also want to correct something I said. House is almost *100* years old, not 10. Oops!

DD has it in her kitchen and its great stuff.

sheesharee - I love the idea of using it in the laundry room. We hung our old kitchen cabinets in the LR but they could really use an update. They were inexpensive builder's grade and very dark.

What kind of paint did you use?

Shee - it was that picture a couple years ago (?) that introduced me to that wallpaper. Your picture convinced my DH we could do it to our hall bathroom cabinets which were the world's ugliest cabinets. I didn't even realize it was your picture. So, thanks!

It was Sheesharee's post that got me going as well. I've since added knobs and painted the room a softer yellow.
