beadboard wallpaper as a backsplash?

Hello,

I posted pics of my oak-intensive kitchen a while back and got some great ideas on budget updating.

I really liked someone's suggestion to use wainscot/beadboard as a backsplash. I will still tile behind the range, but if there is even a small chance we will replace our "lovely" laminate counters in the next few years, I don't want to tile all around and have to rip off the bottom rows to wedge a hunk of granite in there.

Does anyone know if the beadboard wallpaper would be up to the task of being a backsplash? It wouldn't be directly behind the sink because there's a window there, but it would still take a bit of abuse.

We can do regular wood panels there, but it would sure be alot easier to cut little pieces of wallpaper!
