Beadboard backsplash
Comments (21)I have a solid wood, tongue in groove beadboard backsplash that has been in for almost 5 years. I like the look and like being able to easily hang pictures on the wood but a few things to keep in mind are how to handle the areas near the sink and behind the stove. I have soapstone behind the sink and the slightly higher back guard on the range to prevent any issues in those two areas. Because my backsplash is solid wood I have had issues with movement in the wood during the winter which has led to a good bit of recaulking and painting, I actually just redid ever seam last week. Using a high quality plywood veneer beadboard would prevent these issues. I do not have a problem with gunk build up, I used a semi gloss paint which is very easy to wipe down. And, because I have a flat trim piece where the backsplash meets the counter, I do not have the grooves right at counter level to deal with keeping clean or caulking....See MoreBeadBoard/Waynescoating Backsplash
Comments (19)teambaxter, Here's the link to our knob and cup pull from Crown Point. I can't remember what the hardware looked like when it first arrived but it has pretty much darkened to a dark gray with a slight brassy sheen in spots (which is what I wanted.) I just posted a bunch of pictures of our kitchen--some of the pictures show the hardware a bit better (and more backsplash.)...See MoreBeadboard backsplash dilemma keep w/ pro stove? Ideas?
Comments (13)For going on 7 years, I've had a tempered glass plate behind a pro-style range. Also got a long narrow one for a backsplash on the wall behind the kitchen sink. Much easier to clean than tile. It was not expensive but it does require tempered glass which is sized to order. Extra cost option to have the plate drilled for mounting-screw-holes. The alternative is to use mirror-mounting clips. The local glass shop owners told me that they were doing several of them a month mostly for kitchens with beadboard on kitchen walls. My town has a lot of early 1900s homes with beadboard wainscotting in the kitchens and bathrooms so there is something of a market for glass covers here....See MoreBeadboard backsplash - what color to paint?
Comments (18)cpartist & live_wire_oak - thank you! I just ordered two steel backsplashes (one stainless and one white) so I can see which one looks best. I'll check and see if I can find a nicer looking wood for the beadboard. This is the fourth option and the first one I've liked. The counters are quartz. I would have loved to extend them up the wall because I love them, but it's just not in the budget. This is a $15K kitchen remodel (all DIY except for counter top installation) so a pricey backsplash isn't an option right now. I'm going to install the beadboard in a way that if I decide I don't like it in two years when more funds are available, I can easily remove it and get something I like better installed. I've tiled a backsplash before, but this is an old house and there are some significant bows in the wall that will almost certainly cause lippage. I don't think my tile skills are up to the challenge....See Morejwvideo
