how can i be sooo excited about paint? please share my joy!

Well, ladies & gentlemen (how many men are on here, anyway, just out of curiosity?).... drum roll, please, after months of obsessing about paint, researching, stressing again, and researching again, praying a lot (yes, I pray for wisdom in paint choosing!) and of course, turning to all of YOU for much help and guidance, I HAVE found the PERFECT color scheme for my house!

I'm planning to use the following colors (some just for small accent areas) throughout our home. I will have some blue-grays sprinkled in, and some different bedroom colors, but here are my new beloved "friends":

Duron Millenium Plantation Beige

Duron Millenium Tobacco Road

Duron Millenium Tatersall Brown

Duron Millenium Dried Tobacco

All of my new "friends" are on the same paint strip. I got a sample quart mixed tonight of all of them, painted some strips, and I- AM - IN - LOOOOOOVE! PERFECT! It's like the perfect combination of cream, rich tan, gold & bronze!!!

As you might expect me to say, I highly recommend them.

I had them mixed at Home Depot in Behr Premium Plus eggshell. Just ask the guy for the "Millenium" formulas and VOILA! I hope someone, somewhere out there will read this sometime an fall in love, too.

So excited for you. I know how stressful it is to find just the right colors. Hope you will post all the photo's of the rooms when you're finished painting.

Would love to see pics of the Plantation Beige when you're done. As you know I have Tobacco Road throughout my house, but I've got a room that gets no natural light and the TR is too dark in there. I'm wondering if PB is the solution!

To say I love hoop houses or high tunnels, is an understatement. I believe that we need to produce as much of our own food locally, when we can. No you can't grow tomatoes in January (without lots of heat and other stuff) but why not grow what you can. I have 6 high tunnels. 4 stationary ones and 2 movable ones. In a single year we will have over 5,000 square feet under plastic. If I have my way (I hope I do) I will put up one more this late summer/fall and replace my smallest one. Three years ago and $200 I built my first two tunnels. They were 12 by 18 and 8 by 12. I still have the 12 by 18. I took down the other one to make room for my 18.5 by 45. I build my own tunnels. They cost around $600 to build. I can't say enough about them. I think everyone should have one. At least on on every block. Yes, a 12 by 18 is enough space to feed a family. In addition to this, we have about another 3/4 of an acre we "Farm". Our produce feeds our family of 6 and I sell at 3-4 Farmers Markets a week. By the way in our zone 5, we are harvesting, zucchini, cucumbers, Pickling cucumbers, bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, lettuce, beets, chard, bok choy, carrots and onions from our tunnels. Hi folks - The stakes are set into the ground around 8 inches, and the cross piece running the length on the top makes the whole thing feel very sturdy -- certainly *much* more sturdy than my single stakes were last year, so I figure it has to be an improvement, wind or not. Our soil is so rocky that I can't get things down much deeper than that without great effort, and the 8-10 inches just isn't nearly deep enough for single stakes, as I found out last year! The fence wire is what I used to tie the poles together -- If you look at the top picture all the way on the right, you can just make out the wire wrapped around the bundles of poles keeping them cinched in. As for tying them up, when the plants get larger the main stem will be getting closer to the two poles -- I am planning on tying the main stem to each of the poles (sort of the way people have two stakes to the side of young trees and tie them around each to hold them straight), and then using the poles to tie up major stems as well. Again, last year my stakes never wound up being right next to the main stem, so I don't think this should be any worse, and with more branch available to tie things to, figure it should be better for supporting branches that are heavy with fruit! It's sitting on my kitchen table! I played a bit yesterday & hurt my stupid left arm trying to do a bellow shake. Now, I can't lift it to put it back on it's stand. It's very frustrating in a good way. The music is still in my head & under my fingers. I've been unable to beg and/or bargain with the lupus to leave me alone for just a couple hours so I can play. Just about the time my fingers start to communicate with my brain (I'm playing from muscle memory)...something starts to hurt too bad to continue. Restoring Dad's accordion was absolutely worth every penny. My muscle memory has allowed me to get through a rather rousing 'Sharpshooters' but that's about all, at least so far. 'Sharpshooters' is an accordion classic dating to the early 20th century. It was 'Baby Face' that did in my left arm..."Baby face, baby face, you've got that cutest little baby face....." Beekeeperswife - Yes, I have the 5 light chandy. The photo is the 3 light. DH got it for me last year for my b-day, and it's sitting in the garage waiting to be installed. He bought it at Anthropologie, but I found the mfg who is Italian. I wanted a smaller version for my island, but I just couldn't spend that much $$ as the mfg was asking. BUT if you are nearby and can check out the price and how many bulbs ....YES, I want to know more!! I ended up settling for those Ballard Design pendants, because they were very affordable and still gave me a fun look. I had some earlier posts in the lighting forum when I was pondering what to do there. But we haven't actually purchased any lights, so yes, I would love to know what it would cost. I think Anthro is in the Philly area, yes? Maybe that's why it was in a nearby store. I actually received another chandy originally, but there were 3 broken flowers. Anthro sent me a new one and I returned the original one. I even wonder if that one could be the one with broken lights! :) Thanks!!

Paint gets me excited too. I love thinking about it, picking up chips on my lunch hour, finally buying test quarts and the whole painting the trial color on the wall. It's frustrating too, but in a good way. Love the Tobacco Road strip. I've tried the tobacco road but it didn't work for the room I was painting. I realized it would have been a great choice for the master bedroom if I had had it then. (MBR is Laura Ashley Gold #3, a great color but more gold than TR) I had Dried Tobacco for years in my master bath. Very dark and bronze green and pretty.

rebazel, did you have a lot of natural light in your master bath?? Do you think it would complement a sagey-green? Did you use the Tattersall Brown anywhere??

Congratulations! I know how relieved I felt when I finally settled on paint colors . . . I've said it before, but it's true: I think choosing appliances and choosing paint colors are the two hardest things I've faced in building a house. And grout color comes in a near third!

We'll all be waiting to see pictures of the finished job!

Eliza, I'm so happy that you are happy! Where did you get the strip? I have what SW says is there version of tobacco road but it looks too yellow/gold. I'd love to see all your colors!

I'll try to take a picture of my own "strip", as I don't have an actual strip. I got sample quarts and painted my own swatches. I will say that my TR colors look slightly different among the three places I got it from. Interesting.
