Love those fabrics - you are going to have such a pretty, cottage-y room! I would stick to either a soft green or the taupe-beige wall paint. Anything in coral, orange, or reddish tones is going to fight with your furniture, woodwork, and floors, IMO. You could repeat the patterns in both fabrics with cushions and placemats, double-sided, for variety. Then you could pick up the color of the roses in other accessories. I think that your rooms have an appealing soft and gentle look, and that a bright wall color would be a major distraction.

I agree with Sable, I'd go with the neutral you have in the picture. Keep the color in the accents. It would look really smart looking if you could paint the trim work to match the cabinets. I know it's scary to paint over wood but when you do, you'd be sooo pleased at how charming and clean it looks.

You might want to check out my recent thread about "entry hall paint" I was considering SW Coral Island that looks just like one of the corals on your strip. It really looks awful when sue photoshoped my entry.

Oh, how pretty this is! I'm with the other posters above in staying with neutral walls. The tan chip would be pretty with your fabrics and the cabinets.

There's one thing though, and I'm not always great at coordinating, so if I'm way off, just ignore my thought! I can't tell, are your counters gray? I'm just wondering if you choose tan, how those will look together. It also may just be the coloring on my monitor.

None of our rooms have bright colors like the deep corals/terracotta so I was trying to be venturesome : ) The livingroom through an archway from the dining area, and the entry hall have cream walls (blah) that I would like to change, but I don't know how long it will take to convince my DH. The furniture is sage. That is one reason why I am concerned that the tan/khaki color might be to close.

Right now my DH & I are leaning towards the tan/khaki- paint card name Arbitrary (based on impulse or whim), which might be apropos, but this time I am not rushing into a new color. The new green that is there now might work, but it looks like it has a bit of a blueish cast. This will be the third time in three weeks that the kitchen/dining area will be painted if we decide to change it. I sure started my painting/window treatments in the wrong sequence. If any of you have seen my previous posts, we even painted the baseboard white, but thought it brought your eye there instead of seeing the overall picture. Now it is a dark shade of the wall color. If we choose the tan I think I would go back to the white. What would you do with the wood on the door and window? Should they also be white?

Are there any other colors you thought might work?

Here are two sections of the countertop. It is Wilsonart HD Crystalline Onyx. It is has a lot of grays and a color they call amber. I have never regretted going with this laminate. In certain lighting and distances it has a green cast.

I agree about your current paint color. It's fine as it is.

The current wall color would probably work, especially if I would add some other colors from the floral to the area. It just seems to me to be a bit off. The wall color seems to be on the blue side of green, and the drapes seem to have a bit more yellow, although the color on the description is Sage. Maybe it is my eyes or I am turning this in to more of a problem than it should be.

On my monitor, the wall color seems fine with the fabric (which is the absolute best you have shown us and it is perfect). Your countertops are also beautiful. I'm not so sure about painting all the trim, unless the wood itself is not nice. If it is rough, go ahead and paint it. If it is nice wood, give it a good oil treatment. I'd go ahead and make the curtains and other accessories before painting the walls again, because they are a good color and you seem to like it. You need to view the whole first.

At the moment I have decided to repaint the baseboards white, and leave the door and window as is since there is nothing wrong with them, and the table is a close match. I was think of doing something with the table to tie in with the drysink, but that is another story. The valance and drapes are definitely staying. I was thinking of tan/khaki for the walls, and adding the floral in more areas of the room. Will the long green panels look odd on a tan wall?

PS: My DH has suggested going darker with one of the brick colors, and there is a lot of light in the room, and very little wall space to paint - 18' around x 8' high, broken up in mostly 2'x 8' sections, and a 5'x 8' section.

I just love all your samples and colors together. It all looks great with your kitchen, too. It really does just feel right.

I don't think you've told us how you plan to use the fabrics: how will the floral/check/solid be used in valance, panels, trim, accessories?

These are ready-made (in the USA even) pieces I found at my local Boscov's. I saw them before I started hunting fabric, but they were sold out of the valance (floral with the check as the under piece). On Sat. they had a new supply so I didn't waste anytime in buying the four they had left. The tab curtains were available, and I got them also. They are exactly what I had pictured, but couldn't find. I am turning the tab panels in to box pleat drapes. Would you suggest adding any of the floral (if I can find it) to the drape at the bottom area?

Anymore ideas on the wall color? What is the darkest and what shade would you try. Tomorrow I am going to bring a sample of a tan that I think might work. (I work at at building supply) The paint is Valspar and mixed by formula so I can tweak here and there. My DH suggested one of the brick colors????

I have been looking at some other redos with all white molding (baseboard, window frames and doors) and I really like the look.

As far as accessories, I am open to suggestion. I have some ideas but they are in the forming stage.

Another vote for a neutral tan for the walls! The sample paint chip you have in your photo looks like a perfect match to the background color of your valances. I can't wait to see it all finished! It's going to look beautiful!!

I found a chart of three new green colors today and would like your opinion. It has a hint of gray as I see it.

Will the weathered nickel knobs and pulls, along with the brushed pewter trim on the pendant light work with tan wall? I painted a spot on the wall to see how the tan looks, but I want to see it in the morning with the natural light. I guess it seems like I am fighting with the tan. I do like to see tan with white molding. Would you go any darker or lighter in the tan?

I just wanted to say I love your fabric choices.

I still prefer the tan. But the first full green sample is also pretty; it nearly matches the palest green in the leaves of the floral print. Otherwise, the one directly below it (#3). That one would, however, blend into the solid green drapes. That's not necessarily a bad look, as it would enhance the size of your room. Can you find some extra green gingham, for accessories?

I just wanted to say that I used the Thyme color (3rd down in your last photo) in my BR in the last house. It was a beautiful color with the white trim. I got comments on it all the time.

Checking in to see how things went with the tan. The green could be great, but I am leaning toward the tan because of the background of the valance and your counters. I think the trim painted in white would look so nice, and bring over some of the white from the cabinets to that side of the kitchen. I'm so interested to see how things are going!

I am at work now and took a minute to check in. I put a second coat on the tan 'splotch' this morning, and I am anxious to see it when I get home this evening. I also got two new greens mixed in the little sample cans we have here. One I have not shown on this post. I was even tempted to do a soft peachy coral since I am 'splotching' all over the place, but someone here said the coral looked awful on her entry walls. I had another brain storm or fade ?? about doing the tan on top using a chair rail in white, and one of the greens on the bottom.

That is a great idea to try some of the paint on your walls. It is very hard to choose based on little paint cards and a pain to cut in around all the trim and cabinets. I like the tan you had selected which looks like there are flecks of it in your counters. I would steer away from coral as I feel it will be over kill with the brick floor and backsplash. I would not paint your trim unless you are considering painting the trim in the whole house. I feel it needs to be cohesive throughout the house. As is, it has a nice cottagy feel to it.

Sorry I am getting around so late. Here are the two greens I 'splotched' this evening. The lighting is not good but it does show the blue cast of the paint on the walls. The drape color is to dark, but it is the best I could do.

I like both the tan and the green. Any thoughts on using the two colors - tan on top, green on the bottom with a white chair rail, or is that getting to 'busy'?
