Which Bedside Lamps?
Comments (32)I really like the black lamp much better than the little one. It gives some height there, and is a nice transition between the black and white photo and the white chest. The little lamp is too small. What I think you need is to take the hydrangea and put them in a lower container - perhaps a green pedestal bowl - so that they sit lower than the height of the necklace valet (which I love). It will pull some color down to the top of the chest, and create kind of a cascade arrangement of high on the left (lamp) to low (florals), which will carry your eye from left to right to the window....See MoreBedside tables in small BR
Comments (30)Lynndale, thanks for sharing your idea! I was wondering about the possibility of doing that. I hadn't brought it up yet because he's very self-conscious about the machine-- he needs it and it makes a huge difference in his sleep-- but still he's funny about it. Also, he's more about function than look.. so I didnt want to bring him into my search! ;) I have been keeping an eye out for something more like a cabinet but I haven't yet found an antique or nice wood piece with doors that fits the space. I have seen plenty that I could paint (like the nightstands in the original post) but that isnt the look I was going for. I guess I need to decide what is most important to me.. maintaining the look.. or hiding the machine....See MoreChange Decorating Style to Match House?
Comments (14)I made the move from a Traditional house in Virginia to a more relaxed style in Florida. So, now I thought I would redo everything I had in Virginia, we sold a lot of the furniture and now I have just the few pieces I need to accomplish a more relaxed style. The trade off? The stuff I kept needs refinishing or repurposing or getting something similar but smaller or larger. It will take me a while to reuse my things. If I had it to do over, I would have taken nothing with me, that way I could furnish the downsized house with what really fits here. Harder to take things with you and repurpose than it is to measure and fit what actually goes into the newer home....See MoreHow big are your bedside tables?
Comments (23)I hate to be such a pain in the butt, but :) I am becoming more and more indecisive as I get older. Here is another mock up. This one is 29 1/2" and 34" long. The top is a little off balance as I did the length with books, game boards and table leaves. The picture frame on the end represents a mock up of a table top perfume cabinet we're currently making (the tables are the next project) The perfume cabinet is going to be approximately 10" wide x 15" high x 7 1/2 deep. I was originally going to make it 9 x 13 x 7", but the mock-up showed me that I could go bigger. Now here's my question, why does this table look so big. It is actually almost the same size as Mona's tables, a little smaller actually, but to me they look so big. I tried taking a photo from looking down on the table, more like Mona's photo and it still looks big. When we make the tables, we'll make the tops more level than the mock up :))) I hope.... A further away shot. 34" long, why does it look so long? Is it because I am use to looking at our 20 x 20 by only 22"high end tables? Thanks for all your help....See MoreSueb20
