I can't believe I did this...but now I need help!!!

This weekend I was baking some Oatmeal Raisin Cookies for my DH and was using the microwave timer. When I put in the 2nd batch I set what I thought was the timer and proceeded to read the newspaper. I keep my bread and such in the microwave for storage (bad habit I know). Pretty soon I smelled something burning and figured it was something in the oven. Lo and behold I turned the microwave on and was cooking my bread instead of just timing my cookies. The bread was charred and the bag was melted. I had quite a mess with a good bit of smoke and the smell was horrible. I have cleaned the microwave, put vinegar in water and brought it to a boil and tried putting baking soda in to absorb the burnt odor to no avail. Any idea what else I can do to rid the microwave of this horrible odor? It's not that old and I don't want to replace it if I don't have to. Please tell me someone else has done this and has been able to remedy it. Thanks in advance for any and all help....Jackie
