Meat cooked in red wine -- OK to serve to alcholic?

We may be hosting a Christmas dinner. One of the guests is a recovering alcoholic. I was thinking of fixing a roast recipe that calls for 1 cup red wine poured over it before it cooks. But I'm thinking that, out of respect for her needs, this is not a good idea.

Is there a good non-alcoholic substitute for the red wine that lends the same taste? Or, is it really an issue at all? I want to be absolutely certain that it will not be a problem for her.
