Since you have black flooring I think it will look fabulous. I love the idea of painting the ceiling the same color as the walls.

Sounds and looks lovely. Only tip I have is to place a template on the wall and see if the design causes problems with light switches. When we did something similar in DS's house we had to make some adjustments because of the how the top tile intersected the switch.

Annz, thanks for the tip. I don't have any switches on the walls. The only switch was the one that was on the sconces and they are now worn out. This bath is from the 40's and is nothing to write home about. The whole thing is just worn out! So I will keep your tip in mind & be sure that new planned switches are situated appropriately within the tile work.

I just went back to the BM store for more paint samples. Everything with color isn't going as well as I'd hoped. So now I have straight grays. I don't know about that either :/.... I don't want it to be a study in gray scale. But it seems to be headed that way. I like life in my colors. I now have 12 samples of gray lavenders, gray blues, and now gray grays?

I too would paint the ceiling the same as walls in this case. I think going white-gray/lav-white may be too much for a small space. It will make the room look bigger with one cohesive color above the all white below.

I love your tile plan! If you haven't already tiled, I'll cast my vote here for a B&W scheme. Here's where I'd weinee out; while the lavender/gray/blue/whitish running bond sounds pretty, I don't like blue that much, so right away I'm biased against it. But I love the layout so much, and it would look classic in black! With a black toilet lid/ring and a white bowl, classic white porcelain sink fixtures, pale mint green walls and ceiling. Maybe a frosted glass door with an old-fashioned round doorknob.
Or violet-grey walls and ceiling, crystal sconces, an ornate mirror and lots of sparkly silver.

Enduring, strangely enough the paint color on the ceiling will make it look higher. Can't wait to see it.

I wonder if it will look stripey. White up to 3.5 ft, lav/gray for .5 feet, then a white stripe, then lav/gray wall for 3 feet- then if you have a white ceiling...

It may not look stripey at all, I just wonder if it's possible to check: take a big roller and a 3" roller and some paint and slap it up on the wall now to see how it would look? Or even white and gray/lav paper taped to the wall? I ask because I tiled a bath of the same size with a complicated pattern and I wish I had gotten an idea of what it would look like with paint first. Your pattern and color choices are superior to mine, but still. I don't like my stripes.

Hosenemesis, there would be less strips than you described. BUT, I agree that with white tile, than color, than white ceiling, it might be stripy. That has been my thought too. I tried white trim and color walls as a sample in my kitchen remodel last year and it looked like a circus tent! My rooms are small and one can never get far enough away or between the door frames to have a nice ratio of trim vs wall color. I solved the problem in the kitchen by painting the trim as the walls and I love it.

Prairiegirlz5, you illustrate a very glamourous bath! Sounds lovely. This bath will have a bit of glam but overall it has to function as a frequently used toilet for my farmer husband and others that may be working or visiting. I do want it to look sort of like the early 20th century and similar to my kitchen as it is just off from the kitchen.

Now, I think I may have to alter the color plan. I yanked a bit of my remnent soapstone out of the shed to take a look and " :O these colors aren't going to work!" Tile pattern will stay the basic pattern but the listello may be tiny running bond so I can get a good matched white and stay in budget. I could go with a Ming green listello but I don't want a strip of color. The slate floor will stay, as will the soapstone. But what color do I paint the walls? Did someone above say light green? I may have to go that direction because the veining in the soapstone is green! I was thinking that there was more white veining. It pays to keep your materials close at hand throughout the process, not hidden away and counting on memory.

The paint that I used in my kitchen was BM Titanium and it looks fabulous with another soapstone I have there. I just wanted a more ocean-y feel to the colors in the BR. Any thoughts are welcome.
