I'll give the actual recipe, but I put more celery, carrots and potatoes in. I don't measure, just chop, till I have as much as I want. I didn't have green pepper.
I also had to add another can of tomatoes today. As I said, it grew. I started out in my enamel cast-iron dutch oven and had to transfer everything to my large stock pot!

Hearty Cabbage Soup

In a large pot saute:
1 lb ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 cup diced celery
1/2 green pepper, chopped
1 garlic clove, chopped

Saute until the redness disappears from the meat.

Add:
2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp paprika
1 28-oz can tomatoes
1 can tomato paste
2 cups beef broth
2 cups hot water
3 tbsp parsley flakes
hot sauce to taste (optional)
2 cups diced potatoes, peeled
1 cup diced carrot

Combine thoroughly. Simmer, uncovered 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

Add 6-7 cups coarsely chopped cabbage, (approximately 1 small head)

Combine and simmer, covered, 1 hour longer. You may need to add 1-2 cups hot water.

Everything sounds so good. I made chicken/noodle alfredo, with steamed broccoli on the side.

Socks: What kind of pressure cooker did you get...electric or stove-top?

I keep getting hungry for hamburgers. I don't care for the Dairy Queen burgers and the 2 other cafes make really good ones but they are way too big for me. I can only eat half. It's such a waste. So today I bought some ground beef and plan to make my own.
Had breakfast at 10:30, lunch at 2:30. So dinner will be late too.

I fixed a simple Thai Pizza on Naan bread... sauteed onions, peppers, chicken a bit of olive oil, and drizzled with peanut sauce and topped with shredded cheese and baked for about 15 minutes.. Deeelish..

I love cabbage soup... was a staple in my grandma's polish kitchen. We make it with pork ribs or left over pork roast.

Yours sounds great too.... may try that next time out..

Shirley, I just got a simple Presto stainless steel 4-quart, stovetop. I saw some fancier ones, but I just wanted to start simple, not being sure if I would like it. I was afraid the 4-qt. would be too small, but it is perfect for two. It has a "helper handle" on the side in addition to the regular handle, which I like. I remember my mother lifting that heavy thing by the one handle to get it over to the sink.

I had shrimp enchiladas, we stopped at a new for us Mexican restaurant tonight and it was very good.

We had meat loaf and green beans cooked with little red potatoes.

We had pork chops, wild rice, stuffing, green beans and applesauce.
