Please help with curb appeal for small Florida house
Comments (6)As a part time resident, I'm guessing you look forward to a tropical get-away, with minimal maintenance. I would recommend the following low maintenance plants to look great year round: Hope Philodendron with Heliconia or Purple Queen would be a fun tropical look. Plumbego or Copper plant would make a simple, yet colorful low hedge-row if you prefer a more uniform semi-structured feel. Lantana, Dwarf bougainvillea or Fountain Grasses are some other hardy, easy-going yet colorful foundation plants that you can enjoy for years, then supplement with annuals while you are here. Enjoy!...See More1st Home - "Snout House" - Help with Curb Appeal?
Comments (14)This style is very common in my neighborhood, in a 2 storey version. The nicest ones treat the area beside the garage as a courtyard. Landscaping can accomplish this, and some have a wall across too. The entrance to the courtyard from the driveway is also pulled away from the house, so it feels very spacious, not cramped. Some have a patio area in front, one has a really nice fountain. I'll draw something to give you an idea. You already have a tree that sort of defines the area. Search Houzz or Google for front courtyard ideas....See MoreNeed help with small front porch and curb appeal please?!?!
Comments (20)What about a pergola extending from the left side of the house to the second floor bump out on the right? The section above the door could have a solid roof for weather protection, while the rest is open to allow light into the window. Or you could make a gable portico over the door and extend the pergola to the left off of that. You could do one over the garage as well but that might be too much, and to me adding dimension on the left is important. Properly sized shutters would actually work quite nicely here Someday :) With the style of the new garage door that would push your house a bit toward farmhouse....See MoreHelp improve our house’s curb appeal
Comments (6)You have a lot going on with all the different roof lines and windows and columns. I think what's throwing me off is the two-tone white and brown. I think if all the white and brown was just one colour it might simplify your house visually and bring out the beautiful architecture. At first I thought to paint it all white but then I thought maybe a darker tone of your roof colour. Not sure. As for the ivy, yes, remove it. It covers your red brick and makes the bottom part of your house look squat. Remove it and the bottom red brick will visually be in more proportion. You have a lovely house, the roof line is really cool! Good luck!...See Moreyayagal
