TGIF to you all!

Mild but grey Friday here in Oakville. Feels a bit more like Spring than Fall. Suppose to get quite cold though next week.

Tonight we are going to the local pub with Chris and Amity for fish and chips. The place is always packed now matter how early you get there so we are "forced" to have a beer or two at the bar as we wait our table. Life is tough....:)

Tomorrow night is Clive's office Christmas party usually a pretty good time and the venue they use (an Italian banquet hall) does a great job with the food.

Sunday ...dunno. It's Meredith's birthday but the brat flew to Halifax to spend her birthday weekend with the boyfriend an some friends still down there....... :(

So I'll clink to you all in a few hours, have a great weekend!

Clink to you, Sharon. It's a bit early for a Christmas party, isn't it? Wow.

Fish and chips sound yummy, too bad about having to force down that beer,though, LOL.

Happy birthday to Meredith, no matter where she is.

Its only 4:00 here in PA and I am already thinking about a clink LOL!

Have fun with the Fish & Chips tonight - that sounds really good (and MUCH better than what I have planned LOL)! Sorry to hear the brat took off for Halifax.... LOL! I guess she knows Mom and Dad will still send her Birthday wishes and love her no matter what. LOL!

Anyway, I am going to a Tastefully Simple party tonight sigh. I really hate those things, but it is a good friend who is hosting, so I feel obligated to make an appearance. If I can escape early I was thinking of hooking up with some friends to shoot a little pool, but we'll see.

Nothing special planned for the rest of the weekend. We finally got "pull down stairs" installed, so we have easy access to the attic. Maybe I will finally wash, fold and pack away all the summer stuff and drag out the winter stuff - can you tell my life is filled with excitement?

There is a swim meet tomorrow morning, but both boys were home from school sick, so I'm not sure either will swim tomorrow... I guess we'll decide in the morning.

We got one to two inches of the white stuff last night. It's 28 degrees and a cold, cold wind is blowing. Most of the roads are clear because for the previous few days before the front came through the temps were in the mid 60's. The ground and the roads still had enough residual heat to prevent icing. Only the overpasses and mountain roads are closed. It's cold, and a semi miserable day, but it don't bother me like it normally would. Two days ago we had 60 degree weather and two days hence we will have 60 degree weather. This round of cold does no psychic damage.... Mixed up a test batch of Jello shooters. It'll be a few hours before I can test them. One of the rigors of being a scientist.. Avoided the grocery store lines yesterday. That's one Pavloff's reponses I am immune to. Went by the Dollar store to pick up some sundries

Well, I suppose it could be an Epilobium parviflorum, in which case the flowers are nice, but the leaves look more serrated than mine. Epilobium augustifolium is native here. Well, assuming that's what it is, has anyone heard of Epilobium causing a rash? I just came in from the yard with a big rash. I was working in a flower box with nothing in it but the most mundane annuals that I've messed with all my life - snaps, petunias, verbena, calibrochoa - and these things. Oh, and a mop head hydrangea.

I turned on the grow lights this week, as soon as the rain set in. I have some galtonia, grasses and a couple of tree seed on the go. Not that the rain stops me from working out doors.

Nancy has it right. We are at the cottage so much that it is becoming a real chore to manage the house and Gardens here. I can only take a week or two at a time at the cottage during the winter. so we intend to buy a condo in Toronto, right in the city, in an area called Bloor West Village. We will be at the cottage from April until September, and plan to travel September/October. The condo will be home base from November to April with lots of trips to the cottage. Well that's the plan anyway but first we have to sell the house. Big change!!!!

Well sorta early Annie but it's only 6 weeks until Christmas !!! If they leave the office party too late in the season then everyone is booked up with other commitments. Don't forget too we have Thanksgiving early in October so there is no holiday between now and Christmas...Christmas is way bigger here than Thanksgiving is.

Alexa. tell me more about those pull down stairs we are looking for something like that for the cottage loft. Hope the boys are feeling better.....'tic the season!

We have already gotten 3 invitations for Christmas Parties...And I'm giving 2 parties. Tired already!

Alexa, Tastefully Simple...I know, I have been invited to one next week. I gotta go because it's a really good friend and she needs emotional support! LOL! My DD and her DH just installed some "pull down stairs". They did the installation themselves. I sure wish we were handy like that.

Chase, I think they purchased the stairs at Home Depot. The stairs even came with instructions!

Sharon, your plans sound one heck of a lot more interesting than mine. It was a dreary day here today but yesterday I was thinking that it seemed almost spring like.

I have to work tomorrow but then have the next three days off. I need to finish up with some shopping for the swap and I hope to get started on some Christmas shopping too! If you read the news, it makes one feel like just skipping Christmas this year.

I'm *clinking* now...

Well this forum really is a bad influence! I may have to open the bottle of prosecco in the fridge in order to give a real clink to all of you tonight!

I think I must be leading a charmed life since I don't know what "Tastefully Simple" is??!

I've been home all week with Joe who is still doing great post surgery, but tomorrow I'm leaving home for a bit to bring half a pickup truck load of stuff to the hazardous waste recycling day in Baton Rouge. You never realize how much stuff you can fit in a barn over 23 years until a tree caves in the workshop and tack room (thank you Hurricane Gustav!) and you have to clear it all out to rebuild.

On my way home, I'll stop at Tony's Seafood and pick up a crawfish pie (actually better than my homemade version) and some shrimp. Then it's back to being Florence Nightingale for the rest of the weekend!! But I do plan on doing some online Christmas shopping.

Hey Sharon!

These are the stairs we installed. They are pretty easy for 2 handy people to put in. And get the aluminum, they are lighter and stronger....

It's finally Friday!!! This has really been one of those TGIF weeks for me. :) But now I'm home on my couch with my dog watching Mario Batali, so life can't be that bad, right? :) My weekend is probably going to be a very boring one. Housework, yardwork, maybe cleaning the chimney, maybe going out for dinner. We shall see! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Happy weekend, all. I'm clinking a huge TGIF glass of wine. We've been waiting since Oct. 29 for DH to get his broken leg screwed back together. I hauled him in yesterday and even though I tried to convince them to keep him for a couple of weeks, they sent him home today with two plates and eight screws. I've got him all tucked in his recliner, dosed out on oxycodone so now I can relax.

Other than step-and-fetch-it duty, no plans for the weekend. Liana will babysit tomorrow so I can go to work and Sunday we have a load of firewood to stack. Then I see something comfort food-ish for dinner...maybe I'll bake bread.

Six weeks until Christmas...arghhhh...

The Xmas party sounds like fun, Sharon, and I think it's smart to plan it early, things book up so fast!

Alexa, have fun at the TS party. I hate those things, too, but TS really does have some good stuff!

Yikes, Karen! Just reading about all your Xmas partying makes me tired too! I am sure you'll have fun attending as well as hosting!

Nancy, I am with ya on the skipping Xmas thing. It's gonna be a lean one this year, that's for sure! I got word this afternoon that my new boss (of 6 whole weeks) has to cut me back to 2 days a week. Why in the he!! did she hire anotehr person if she couldn't afford one? And it's not like she's paying me great wage or anything.

Sorry....didn't mean to vent. Good thing I kept my foot in the door at the hospital. I can pick up a few extra days there until I figure out what to do.

To those of you nursing loved ones, I raise my glass to you. It's especially difficult to take care of men when they are out of sorts...LOL

Tomorrow I am taking part in a local jewelry show and sale. Hopefully I can sell a lot of my dichroic and beaded jewelry and make some extra Xmas money. After that I am off to a friend's house for an overnight crafting party. I am "glassed and beaded out" so I am bringing some card-making supplies. Time to do some paper crafting for a while....

Happy weekend! The economy sucks, but life is still good.

So much for Friday. Spent my morning fighting with a spreadsheet and then risked major speeding tickets to get the results to work on time. Silly me I thought only salary people get homework. Beer and a peanut butter sandwich after work. Working tomorrow so I'm off to bed now... unless I fall asleep in my chair again.

Friday is a distant memory...LOL!!

My day started with a trip to the gym to work off some stress. It was just a LIGHT workout so I changed and headed to Wegmans. The closest Wegmans is in NJ but heck gas is $1.80 over there so I went LOL!!
Then I went holiday shopping.

I treated myself to lunch at Baja Fresh. YUM!!

I picked Drew up from school and took him to work as the brat forgot his bus pass and his badge... Planned to make the coconut shrimp but since he had plans after work I bagged it and just made pick and peel shrimp for Hubster and me.

It was rainy and bleek here all day so I hit the hay early and slept straight thru till 9AM!!!!

Today I already got my summer stuff packed away. I got some totes from target so I've been packing as much as I can.

Tonight dinner will be soup I pulled from the freezer and some salad I will pick up from work.
Tonight I have to run back to target to get Great niece Alexia a Cabbage Patch doll for her birthday.

I will no doubt pick up some more totes and encourage the fam to get on the ball and get packing!!

Next week my BABY turns 16!! Oh where did the time go??
I am planning a party here for him...just a few friends so I think I may do the nacho bar again since it was such a big hit for the grad party a few years ago.

Happy B day to all celebrating this weekend!!
