Saw that - I know some is carried by Aldi.

P.S. I'm a bit concerned about the organic walnuts, since I just ran out.

Most cream cheese recipes expect a block of Philly, including the gum, so I haven't cooked with this, but my go-to American style cream cheese for all else is Sierra Nevada, which is just cultured milk, cream and salt. Trade-off is that it comes in a plastic tub (recycling, but that's not a perfect answer). It's still firm, though. Stiffer than Philly without the gum. It's not recalled. Nor is Philly. The recall is for some brand sold at Aldi.

Just check the FDA. Chia seeds, some planter nuts, a chocolate brand i'm not familar with...

i get e-mail allerts. Most are failure to list alergins on the labels. A nightmare for those with serious allergies.

Even the most clean, organic, pasture raised, yada, can suffer a recall. I loosly pay attetion having had some porducts in my pantry re-called.

Sesame seed and all things made from them,...hummus, tahini, etc, is cosisitently re-called. I just make my own now from raw seed, toast my own....

I buy mainly organic and do find that organic products tend not to be recalled as often as conventional ones, tho the walnuts and chia seeds listed right now @ the link above are organic.

Tillamook makes brick cream cheese now. The label says no gums.

Looks like the cream cheese is Hy-Vee, due to potential salmonella. No illnesses have been reported.

There's usually a recall every couple-few days. Most are voluntary. Many are due to potential issues rather than reported ones.

And i just saw another today - from Planters...

"Some Planters nut products are being recalled over concerns they may have been contaminated with listeria monocytogenes, its parent company Hormel Foods Sales announced on Friday.

In its announcement, the company said that two nut products are being recalled over the possible contamination, which can cause listeria that can be fatal for some people.

"The recalled product is limited to 4 oz. packages of PLANTERS® Honey Roasted Peanuts and 8.75 oz. cans of PLANTERS® Deluxe Lightly Salted Mixed Nuts. The 'Best if Used By Date' is located on the bottom of the Deluxe Lightly Salted Mixed Nuts can and the UPC code is located on the side of the can," the announcement reads.

The products were shipped to distribution warehouses in Florida, Georgia, Alabama and North Carolina, as well as to Dollar Tree distribution warehouses in South Carolina and Georgia, according to the announcement, which noted that other Planters products are not affected.

Nobody has reported becoming ill after consuming these products thus far, the company said. All retailers have been notified of the recall. The roasted peanuts have a universal product code of "2900002097," while the lightly salted mixed nuts have a code of "2900001621."

If a person has an affected product, they can either discard it or bring it back to the store for an exchange or full refund, according to the company."

Listeria is a serious one - I understand it can cause miscarriages
