TG turkey perfectly cooked - except for one thigh ???

I'm wondering where I went wrong this year. I brined my 14lb turkey, rinsed it, seasoned and stuffed it, and put it in the oven with the temperature probe deep in one thigh. I cooked it at 325F using "convection roast" until the probe read 170F. The pop-up in the bird hadn't yet popped up, and I thought the bird wasn't really cooked, so turned the heat down and left it about another half hour. It looked wonderful, the skin was brown and crisp. When we carved it, it looked perfect, and my brother commented that it was cooked "just right". But, when we turned it around to cut the second thigh/leg section, it was nowhere near cooked. We ate everything else, and saved the not-cooked parts for reheating another day. But, I'm wondering how I managed to cook most of it perfectly, and have just one thigh pinker than rare (and I don't remember which thigh had the probe in, though that would have been interesting to note). What do you think happened here? By the way, it tasted terrific :)
