Yep, its bogus. I have been offered all kinds of gift cards from lots of places, some I've never done business with. Just do a quick survey. I delete,delete, delete.

Unsolicited emails are always bad news.

if WalMart does surveys, it's on the receipts. I am signed up to get their sales notices, never get any other unsolicited ones. Good thing you didn't click on it.

The giveaway on this one was when it said you will win. Had they put you will be ENTERED to win, would pass the smell test.

I get these offers of Target, WalMart, etc. gift cards by the score.

When I check the address of the site through which it was sent ... it sure doesn't look like their site.

When I click on the link provided, I get another address on redirect, that looks spurious, as well ... before I click away, before the link can load (which, on dial-up, takes a while).

By the way - what is Cynic's Rule No. 1?

Cynic's Rule No. 1? If you're gonna cry, I want REAL tears! I used to be a childrens' photographer! When the spoiled brats tried the fake crying to get their parents to toe the line I just said, Rule #1 If you're gonna cry, I want REAL tears! It sunk in to most parents but of course there's the brat parents who didn't get it. Often they'd be stunned and I'd just point out that if they were crying there'd be tears. Talk about your DUH moments!

I'd be rich if I could get my hands on all the gift cards and checks promised to me daily in my email. Apparently, there are also A LOT of singles (black, white, asain, gay)in my area just waiting for me to call! lol

Delete it and forget it. I entered a website to get a discount coupon for a local seafood restaurant. Ended up I had to buy at least one product (including magazine sunscriptioms) and give them my credit card numbers. I gave up. Someone wise once said "You can't get something for nothing."

I wasn't trying to get something for nothing. I do remember doing a servey for some company and wasn't sure if this was an answer from them. Either way, I've deleted many of these, and don't know why I gave this one a 2nd thought.

susanfj, if you try using Firefox and AdBlock, you won't see any6 pop-ups whatsoever.

I don't have any popups here either and I use IE. Are you logged in to the forum when the popups occur?

I have clicked on some of those survey links before, years ago. They want all kinds of info and I doubt if you ever get anything. Delete!

Excessive popups from reputable sites is an indication you have malware on your computer. Do you have a firewall? Run an anti-malware program like Spybot Search & Destroy occasionally along with an antivirus program both with updated definitions and it'll go a long way to help stop that stuff. I use Opera and don't have issues with popup because they were the first to have an effective blocker built in and it's still the best browser IMO.

Joyful, yes it was a real learning experience. Interesting to see the different parents too. Some admitted they didn't know what to do, others beligerant (how DARE you tell me how to raise my kids!!!) some got a kick out of it and more. And it really varied from area to area. *That* was a big surprise to me. Some small towns had a real snob attitude, surprisingly. Areas I thought I'd enjoy working were awful. Areas that I was nervous about were a joy. Even worked International Falls, where a lot of Canadians would sneak across the border to get my services! ;)
