Been purchasing online for drive thru pickup.
Yesterday, after they put the purchases in my car, the attendant handed me a reusable bag full of goodies as a Thank YOU for using their service.
PAYDAY!

Comments (24)Hello everyone! I'm definitely NOT a fan of Wal-Mart, although I can appreciate the reasons why people shop there. Wal-Mart has extremely low prices, but I am absolutely NOT convinvced their products are of good quality. One of the few things I bought was a garden-hose-spray-nozzle for .99 which broke within a few days. At a yard sale, I got 2 used garden-hose-spray-nozzles for $1 each, which have held up faithfully. 4 years ago, My mom bought a kids' mountain bike for her grandson. What a piece of crap that was. Crappy enough to make a kid not want to ride a bike. Yes, it was very inexpensive, but who cares, if its just junk? I bought my mountain bike on local-ebay, 2nd hand, for a lot less than what it'd cost new. Walmart clothes: decent, but Target is far better. I'm lucky to live in a metropolitan area, where thrift stores are chock-full of good clothes. Nobody does a better job of being thrifty than me: I'm enthusiastic about buying things 2nd hand, at thrift stores, auctions, on craigslist.org, in the local paper, etc. I get a lot of great things, used. Where I live, anything I need can be found for a good price at smaller stores (...every store is smaller than Walmart). And if paying a little more means supporting a smaller and/or local store, I will do so. Smaller stores sometimes have great sales! I believe in supporting small/smaller businesses, because I believe they are healthy for our economy, from which everyone benefits. I wrote a letter to the mayor of Oregon City, thanking her for saying "no" to a Walmart store being built here. (She wrote me back!) Another point: Don't buy anything just because it's dirt cheap. Comments (12)HD is closest for me, and they keep the entrance doors locked off season. But you can take a cart back to the garden section and bring it to the checkout in the main part of the store. It's all I can do to lift 40# now plus when it's usually wet, I wonder if it weighs closer to 50#? Anyway, I get help at the store loading up and then I'm on my own. I can't carry it but a few feet then have to set it down and move it a little further. My daughter picked up the last for me and parked on the side of the house. I got after her and said she should have parked where she wouldn't have to carry it so far. Oh, it didn't bother her. She carried it right around to where I store much of it on one side of the house. When we had a thaw, I got the last bag in the house as far as the living room. I'll work out of it from there, yes I lay it down on a large storage lid so I don't get dirt all over, and then when I've scooped out about half of it, I can easily carry the rest of it on back to where the rest of my supplies are....See MoreBlueberries are now at my local Wal Mart
Comments (10)Although I know a lot more than when I started, I suggest asking a lot of others besides me when it comes to getting good answers about blueberries. I don't think we have a lot of experienced people here in Oklahoma, though. If I could have found a good, reliable source for 3 or 4 gallons of blueberries each year, I probably wouldn't be growing my own now. During winter and early spring before budbreak, you can tell which buds will have berries and which will be plant growth. The big, fat ones (usually at the ends of last years shoots) will make berries. I've learned that it is a good idea to prune off more of these than I would like to in order to still get good plant growth and have tasty berries. If my plants are shorter than 2 feet (about 3 yr old or less), I prune off almost all of them (but leave a few to see how each plant will taste). I have forgetton the exact timing of budbreak and blooming. I do know that when we had the late freeze last April (I forgot the date) that about 50% of the blooms were open. Losing 50% of the blooms might have been a good idea on my older plants since I didn't prune enough. My most important 2 reminders are (1) to mulch with about 4 inches of pecan shells (best), fine pine mulch (good), or pine needles (ok) - or better yet, mixtures of them all; and (2) keep the roots moist all the time. One ten-day vacation in July without them getting water and they may be all dead when you come back. The roots don't even go down a foot. All of my open space came at a steep price. One is in Bennington about 12 miles from us. When they wanted to come to VT they were told they could NOT build in a field outside of town. They HAD to locate in town and there was a vacant WOOLWORTHS store they could have. But they were not allowed to expand the building by one foot. They had to stay inside this 40,000 sq ft store. This was not easy for WalMart since the average store at that time was 112,000 sq ft. But they located inside the building and it's the smallest store in the chain. And then a funny thing happened. The surrounding businesses didn't close, but had MORE business! They LOVE WalMart! Simply by putting the store near downtown, everybody benefited. But everybody misses the Woolworths lunch counter!...See More
