It's official, I'm losing my mind!

I just opened the microwave door to put in a cup of water for coffee. But someone had put in a cup already and it was lukewarm. I have no recollection at all of doing this. I got up kinda late, watched the news, and called Dish because they upped my monthly bill, messed with the stupid phone line, checked my bank account, read the news,etc... I finally went to make my coffee and find out I'm going crazy!!!

It's like there here in North Georgia too. Probably not as hot (we rarely get to 100) but usually don't get that cold either. This winter was particularly bad. I had an arborist out to my home today to check on a dying pine tree. While he was here I showed him my cryptomeria and he said it was cold damage. Also I had 3 mini boxwood that died over the winter. I thought it was because I pruned them incorrectly last year, but he said it was the cold winter and that many strands of boxwood had the same thing. He also said that they are not dead and if I cut them way down, they would regrow. Hardiness zones are great, but mother nature doesn't have to pay attention to them.

Well, the damage has been done, so please don't fret yourself into a sleepless night. I have burned them, froze them and generally made myself a target of the plant police. They can be tough. If you get it back to the place where they thrived before, it could conceivably re-start. Keep it warm and moist, but not wet. Do not trim it anymore, let the pieces wither and shrivel. Do not re-pot or otherwise disturb it any more. Remember that with less greenery, it will need less water. And wait. This is not the time of year it makes new stems, so if it just sits there, that is normal. The parts nearest the soil need to be somewhat succulent for re-growth to occur. The brown bark nearest the soil covers the green that photosynthesizes. If you have even 1/2 inch of sturdy stem, you will probably have a little plant in the spring.

Hi PG! I don't feel so bad now. I just paid $35 & $20 for two carnosas, both were in 15 in hanging buckets, the larger was over 4 ft long I incorporated them both into the same pot with a rebar trellis it turned out really nice looking. He was asking $50 for the smaller and $65 for the larger. I told him the larger was worth easilly $100. Anyone want some carnosa cuttings off of a really old plant? I had to take quite a bit off to get them on the trellis and in the pot I wanted them in. Pictures coming soon :) With those deals I felt like I got took when I payed $20 for a hindu rope with one branch 3 ft long and two about 8 inches, and $10 for a 6 in pot of KP. I choked down $10 each for a rooted foot long stem of Rhipsalis edwaldiana and about a 4 in rooted stem of variegated hindu rope. I thought $95 was a good price for all.

Thank you ALL for your responses. Each has helped clarify add'l thoughts I've had and brought up new ones! I THINK I've made a decision about what I need to do. As of this moment, I'm going to buy a 30" black glass induction cooktop - 4 burners. When I want to use one of my non-induction pans, I'm going to use a heavy-duty gas, 12,000 BTU portable unit that runs on Butane (1 hr. of continuous high BTUs usage; 2-3 hrs. for medium)! It's clear that my needs for those won't be often, but it WILL solve most of my issues that were bothering me and I won't have to give ALL of my favorite pans away that I so feared. And I'll still have access to BOTH induction AND gas (my original duel-fuel passion)! The reviews for this particular 12,000 BTU gas unit were outstanding and it's cost is less than $50 for the privilege. I was considering the Bosch Flexinduction or the highly praised (by reviewers) Frigidaire FGIC 3067MB. But, now I've noticed here the Bosch 800 being discussed for less $$ than the Flex if one doesn't need the flexible pods (which I don't, really). Frigidaire has about all the goodies EXCEPT individual burner timers at around $1100 or so with just terrific reviews on amazon - an amazing price point. Can anyone point out some detriments of these three that I may not have noticed or be aware of? What would all of us unknowing people do without all your input and kind help??

Well, you think you're bad. Made dinner for Jordan and Aaron Wednesday evening, and for once Jordan didn't like it. He is normally a very good eater and doesn't complain, so I popped him a TV dinner in the microwave. It was 3 hours later and bedtime when the poor little guy remembered he had not eaten all night. To make matters worse, I had already eaten the darned dinner wondering why I had a TV dinner in the mike.

A couple months ago i fixed myself a bowl of ice cream,and a little later DGD went in the kitche to use the microwave.She came in the sewing room and said,"Nana,you put the ice cream in the microwav instead of the freezer". Told her it's called CRS and someday she'll do the same.She just laughed,as did i.

I guess I'm more than eligible to join this exclusive club!

Just a few minutes ago I went to put a dish towel in the washer for the next load, and guess what?

Yep, there was the last load from a few days ago!! It was a small load of darks. So now it is being washed again, and it just occurred to me as I am typing this that I should have added some things to it! I guess that is a twofer that adds to my eligibility.

Glad there aren't any dues to pay, and at least I am in good company.
