First, your bedroom is just beautiful. Love the paint and white trim. I think whatever you choose will look great. I have to say that I would vote for Lexington furniture. We have a Lexington antique oak bedroom suite that is almost 30 yrs old and it still looks fabulous. I did switch out the original headboard when we replaced our mattress going from a queen to a king. I wanted to add a different texture to our BR, so I went with a metal headboard. No footboard, we have the space, but also have two labs who wouldn't be able to jump up onto the bed if I were to use a footboard:). As for the nightstands, I have similar nightstands to the narrower stands in your pics. However, ours have a top drawer and the bottom has a door. Tops are marble. The narrow night stands don't take up too much room, and for me that is a good thing. We have a very large bedroom, but definitely didn't want to over furnish. Also, those with wheels really don't appeal to me. Can't say enough good things about the Lexington furniture. Everyone I know who owns Lexington pieces loves them. Would love to see a pic when you've finished the room.

jlt37869: The rod I ordered is in ORB; but looks black. I wanted it to coordinate with the black on the task lamps. Glad to hear you like them as I am trying to give the vintage pieces an edginess too it so it doesn't look old-fashioned and frumpy for DS when he is there. fripper/ghostlyvision: Sorry I didn't explain better; RAF=Howard's Restore-A-Finish which I used along with their companion product, Howard's Feed 'n Wax to seal in the restored finish. It's a product that can be used on older furniture where the finish is still intact, but it has some surface scratches, water rings and years of dirt and dust. It cleans and perserves the existing finish and can often be done instead of stripping and refinishing furniture. work_in_progress08: DS was fine with his existing room; though for most part he's more preoccupied these days looking forward to going to college. He did say that the bed is much more comfortable and I think he is happy that I have found a way to display his pottery (or at least the best pieces). There are some of his early attempts from 1st semester that I have boxed up and plan to talk to DS about tossing it or donating it. They seem to have unlimited access to clay and some pieces are BIG! I'm not sure yet what to do about the desk/hutch or when to phase it out; hence why I had been considering if I should gel stain it darker. My younger DD has a kneehole desk and it's great for storage so a similar one should work just fine for summer and laptop use, etc. At some point, I just would box up the trophies, but some of them he won recently up to a few weeks ago; so the time is not yet. Long term though, I feel the artwork has more meaning to have out as it shows his creativity. dlm2000: Thanks for the support for this project. Small spaces are often a challenge to decorate as I've experienced with all my three kid's rooms; but they can still be made to look nice and comfortable. I suppose I should just sell the torchiere on CL at some point as it's more a mission style which I don't have in my house. I have a whole garage full of stuff now I need to sell on CL which I should do next. The headboard is rather low-profile which I knew when I bought it and was one of the things that attracted me to it for when it goes below the window. I even bought a low profile boxspring for this bed, but it still sits up high as the slats start a few inches higher. Bonus is, more room for underbed storage. Which I forgot to add, the more boring part of the room make over is that I added two under bed storage boxes to store both the guest bedding plus his old twin bedding which goes on the aerobed for when he gets displaced from his room. My brother and mom may be visiting this weekend for DS's 18th birthday so I'm anxious to hear what my brother thinks of the new bed as I typically have him sleep in this room and at 6'2" I don't think he found the old twin too comfy.

To: Lyne (l mtl) Yes! It is Henredon. I looked at the link you posted and I am certain that it is the same table. I absolutely love this table! It can generously seat six as is and eight are possible, but snug. Since it is an extension table, we have the option of pulling out both (or one) of the leafs that are stacked under the main board, which doubles the size. In these photos, I only pulled out one leaf to comfortably seat eight. We were fortunate to find this table at a furniture warehouse that acquires overstocks and sellouts of high quality furniture and discounts it at least or better than the prices offered in Hickory and High Point (NC furniture mart Mecca). I wanted to mention this because you might find similar dealers in your area. To: flyleft Yes! It is indeed a wood-fired oven. It is from a company in California, Mugnaini Imports. It is a lot of work, but the results of my labor are amazing. Unfortunately, this leads to relentless begging for dinner parties from friends and family. We installed the oven with a remodeling project. I was somewhat ignorant about the oven when our architect suggested it, so I blithely agreed. Knowing what I know now, I would suggest that anyone considering a wood-fired oven investigate a gas starter to make the process of firing and preheating the oven less tedious. oceanna, Two words: reciprocating saw. :-) Move as much as you can into another room, cover everything else with dropcloths and/or old sheets, and have at it. We've had to take furniture out in pieces a few times. About 10 years ago we had an enormously-heavy sleeper loveseat from the 60s that DH and his two brothers somehow bent the space-time continuum to get up into our third-floor apartment (top floor of a mid-1800s three-flat), but there was NO way it was getting back down. We disassembled it with a crowbar and hammer and hucked the pieces out the window, which really confused the downstairs neighbors. :-) It was a pity that we had to render it unusable for someone else when I would rather have put it out on the curb as we lived in a very poor neighborhood and it would have been snatched up in a matter of minutes even in its worn-out state, but it had become pretty much unusable for us too and the apartment was far too small to blow that much space on something that couldn't be used - the living room was just barely big enough for one full-size futon couch (moved in and out disassembled), one chair, and a tv stand! That was it! Anyway, if you detach the plywood-box section from the headboard (and footboard if there is one), it is more likely that the headboard(/footboard) could be removed intact and reusable - if you post them on Craigslist, just specify that they are extremely heavy so people should be prepared to bring along help. Cut the plywood into smaller sections that can be moved, although a circular saw would probably be easier for that part. If you/your son aren't up to doing this yourself, hiring a handyman (through Craigslist? heehee) to do the cutting-up and lugging shouldn't be too awfully expensive especially if you don't go through one of those dreadful overpriced franchises. You'll have some cleaning to do in the bedroom but it's better than being stuck with furniture items you no longer like and cannot get rid of. I do know what you mean, BTW. Two houses ago we had a very large master bedroom (or at least very large to me, small compared to some folks'!) and purchased secondhand a 6 piece bedroom set, all pretty large pieces, which fit the room quite nicely. I got quite bored with the matchy-matchy thing and when we moved it did not fit at all into the new house's smaller bedrooms and couldn't really be divided up between rooms. A Craigslister got a nice bargain, since we just needed to get rid of these things that were crowding us out.
